Well not exactly but the push into even more automation is going ahead. There are 10 McDonalds in the Chicago area that will be trialing automated drive through. That means the orders will be taking by computers. It is estimated only 20% of the orders require a human.

This stems from McDonalds acquisition of an AI company in 2019. So this was in the works for a while.

Leave all the repetitive processes to the robots and let the staff focus on customer service.

Interesting... they were anouncing a 100% staffless mcdonalds store here in my city but I'm not sure if it ever happened

I think we will see more of these since most people probably know what they want. Only when people don't know what they want will there be issues.
