There is a DAO to fund important work. In fact SteemIt Inc and other stake was added to it.
No one should have to volunteer, either the community sees the need and funds it or not.

Agreed. We have funds aplenty for that. Though look at the current proposals and the names attached to them. It is starting to look like a very tight-knit group...
