What the heck is going on here?! Dolly’s almost fainted after staring into 2 x zzk-50s, pointing straight at her. Trying to keep herself from collapsing. She tried to contain her fear, but the thought of dropping down to her knees and start begging for her live was so real that her knees started buckling. Before she knew it, she was face down on the ground, hyperventilating. Dolly did not move a muscle. Still in total shock. Bewildered at the fact that this might be the moment when her life be snatched from her.
How did this happen?! How did her roommate turn out to be a killer for hire? She knew that something was going on with him, but she thought it might have been work or family related. Not this!! Why?? How could he??
How did it all lead up to this?? She didn’t pay attention to all the warning signs. She owed the Zickos (bad gang members) some zillos. She thought they would not get to her on the 3rd level.
She saved up Zillos. Not spending anything out of budget. Even had to cut back on her food intake. She was figurately half the person she knew 50 000 star years ago! Her black leather blouse and shirt was hanging from her body. She needs to get it altered. Her little red number must do for now. Not a bad choose at all. 80 percent of her clients prefer her in the red outfit. She felt impowered when she wears it. One head taller than most of them when wearing these bad assss red boots! Its her best tool. The client stopper, whistle machine. Yeah, baby!! HEHE she laughed, they are such suckers! Real scumbags!! It was the quiet ones that she feared the most! Was manhandled a couple of times by Rudy the rednose. Not the reindeer type, but red nose because when you don’t play along you get banged up good!! Leaving you will a bloody nose.
Dolly the ragdoll! Was sent to the ripper doc down the road from here. Real scummy area with blood stain staircase railings. You need to take a few shots of whiskey before going there. Found out that I had 2 broken ribs as well. Thank you, Rudi, for the gift. Was booked of work. Had to sacrifice my yogurt cravings. Now, only once in a blue moon, yogurt delight for Dolly. Docky was quick with the account. Left his rooms still with 2 broken ribs and ice pack for my nose. And a huge dent in my zello savings! Returning from the Doc. I saw it!! Someone just posted it! It was an advert in the hallway leading up to her scrappy ground level apartment. She was so sick and tired of leaking green gas pipes and Zickos members kicking and hammering at her door. This was a gift sent from the galaxies. One bloody nose, two broken ribs turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Sh1t to think that this would be the last time that she needed to poop into a drum and then dial z+101 to have it recycled. This is a dream come true. It’s not as bad as what all here’, makes it to be. I mean it’s a sealed unit after all. And have zt3908-11 to help with the smell and the decomposing.
Will have a real toilet with real toilet paper. Its classical just like the old movies she used to watch on those little cell phones back in the day. Wow, it’s almost million-star year ago. Star years seamed to fly by like the new z808 shuttles. Now everybody got their simulation bracelets. Not her cup of tea. So bulky and with no bling bling added to it! Plain and simply made for functionality not for display. Simplified.zillo, have not invented a bracelet with a softer look. But she could live with it. I mean .. it only takes a press of a button, and you can watch hologram movies all night. Cost a fortune, but this was her get away time from the screams and yelling at night.
She would activate the new implanted ear buds and then block out all the horror from the outside world. The z409 comes with location tracking something she did not like, but up now she had no one to fear. Yes, she loaned a bit of zillos from the Zikos gang, but she could pay it off through her work duties. The boss doesn’t call her Dolly. He likes to call her Ziko prop, like she was owned by him. It drives her crazy when he calls her that. He will properly replace her with a newer model. Bobsie1-9 had some real nice implants done and it boosted her from grade b to grade a. Leaving her desirable to most clients. Top 10 on most desired call girls. She hated feeling like this! Old and outdated. But keep reminding herself this is not a job, its nasty slave work! Her saving is piling up and she only needs one more moon cycle!
One cycle to go and then this nightmare life will be over. She stashed some zillos away and didn’t want to touch it. When trouble comes banging at the door, she has the zillos to pay them off. She just needed not to open the box. She couldn’t trust herself once she opens that box its finished, she would go on a shopping frenzy.
She would buy a little place outside the rift away from all the violence and crime. A 2-bedroom flat. One room for her and one for her mommy. Ruth, her mommy has XPgromolitis, a brain eating disease. One more moon cycle and she would have enough Zillos to pay for the operation her mommy needs and the flat they so desperately longed for. Sometimes Ruth doesn’t recognize her and sometimes she would be so happy to see her even remembers her wedding day. It’s a blessing sometimes when she forgets that Dolly was her baby girl. She is not proud of the life she’s has been living for the last 50 000-star years, but it pays the bills and after Ben’s dispatch she knew that she had to do something to keep the pots cooking.
Yes, it’s been 50 000-star years now. Not one word from Ben! Galaxy 4, the spaceship he was assigned to, have not contacted the base in all this time. She has been to the base office so many times to ask when last they made contact and if there is any hope of the crew and ship returning.
Once every moon cycle she would pop in there after her shift ended. She would ask Captain Frank if there were any information on galaxy 4. At first, he was so kind and helpful. Almost like treating a widow but after 9000 cycles he would look at her and say: “You know the answer to that question.” “Mrs. Starstone” I think you should forget about returning to your normal life. Dolly is the new norm now” We need to be realistic here” I know this is not what you want to hear, but it’s the truth!”
Back on the floor with Dolly …
Dolly was thinking she did not even get a change to say goodbye to Ruth. Who will take care of her? She pays every moon cycle 10 000 zillos to the caretakers at Zozo old age centre. They took good care of her, but its not the same as when your child can take care of you. Dolly wanted to take her for galaxy frozen yogurt and milkshake. Dolly’s dad used to take them often for frozen yogurt. But all has changed after he was murdered for his new implants. After his work shift, he took a shuttle home and got high jacked they butchered him. Leaving his body parts in the back of the shuttle.
She remembers that moment. She can’t sleep anymore, haunted by the gruesome scene. Tossing and turning. Most nights she would wake up in a pool of sweat. First, she dreams of Ben. The last wave he gave her, then a flash back to the bloody shuttle scene.
This is a great story and really gives some valuable insight into the Dolly character, her back story is very tragic, also you cover the darkness of living in this world without going into too much explicit detail! You give enough information about her previous run-ins with clients and the aftermath of her experience, to really paint a picture of this brutal world, giving enough detail so that our minds can make up the rest of the picture and what a nasty picture it paints.
There are a few small grammatical errors and spelling mistakes here and there, but, nothing that can't be fixed in the edit. It's a well-thought-out piece of fiction though and really goes into great detail in areas and helps to expand this Sci-fi/ Cyberpunk, Dystopian world and it is good that you gave the NSFW warning!
I love the idea of the characters you added into this, from her mother, her husband, and where her husband went. I love the idea of talking about space while our character is planted firmly on the ground, I also like the use of names for the weapons, modifications, and even vehicles, it is a great use of World Building!
It is a great entry and I think you could benefit from checking out The Scholar and Scribe Community. There is some great reading material up there, a chance to get talking to other writers to share hints and tips, as well as write some more stories of your own. Based on the level of detail added to your story about the world, I think you might also like The World Building Community. Who gives daily prompts to get us thinking and creating World Building and Lore details, talking about things we like, or creating our own stuff from scratch!

Wow!! I did not expect such a good report. Thank you, thank you sooo much!! I have not written anything for a very long time. This was my first attempt writing a sci-fi story. I knew it was going to be hard not watching to much sci-fi movies. I liked the idea of turning her tragedy background into a hero story. Inspiring others to look beyond their daily circumstances. In writing you can literally become anyone and escape anywhere. Creating the characters you want and also decided how you want your audience to interact with the. I just love a good ending story.. call me old fashioned HEHE. I hope to learn more and will follow your advice to the T.. again thank you, thank you. This piece was dedicated to my brother that was shot and killed in 2018.
