WE89: I'll Be a Cyber Environmental Robinhood Ktnxbye πŸ˜…

in Weekend Experiences β€’ 2 years ago (edited)

Wow what an interesting question. Out of the 4 The Weekend community questions, I chose to answer the 4th one.

Which crime would I commit if I could get away with it and why? The first thought that popped in my head is plain and simple: I would hack into wealthy corrupt/criminal people's financial accounts, withdraw some millions and anonymously donate them to environmental organizations in the world that need it the most and those that are really making a difference.

Of course I can't really do that because I am not computer savvy at all. πŸ˜‚ I don't even like math, I only know very basic coding and that's it. Only in my dreams would I be able to do such a thing and never get caught.

(Now that you know my answer, it would probably be best to stop reading now otherwise you will read another online rant on WHY it is my choice of imaginary crime.)

Why would I choose to do that if I could do it and get away with it? Well our bad behavior towards nature are finally catching up to us. Climate change is happening fast. Extreme weather conditions are happening all over the world now. Floods, food and water shortage, fires and everything else are happening worldwide.

Many people get affected by these natural calamities. Millions or billions worth of things get damaged. Wow what have we been doing and why aren't we moving fast enough to do better to our planet?

The planet we get sustenance from is trying to get rid of us now. Seems like it because we keep abusing it. How else would you explain the severe typhoons and weather changes happening more often? In the Philippines alone we have seen several super typhoons in the last decade! It never used to happen too much when I was a kid.

Land is sinking worldwide due to land subsidence. No thanks to one of the reasons: the use of deep well water system. This is happening all over the world and yet what are we doing to stop land subsidence or at least reduce the speed of it? Property developers keep building subdivisions with what kind of water source? Deep well system. Even up to this day and age we still use it even if it is causing land to sink everyday! Come on.

Not to mention the complete disregard of mangroves and other seaside plants. Why even the contractors of San Miguel Corporation have allegedly cut the mangroves in the area where the Bulacan airport is being built. Did anyone go to jail for committing that crime? I don't think so, I haven't seen any news about it.

That area has land subsidence issues and was already a thriving ecosystem with plenty of seafood in the ocean thanks to the nearby mangrove nursery. All that effort have gone to waste just because of greed and disregard to our natural resources. Wow. Even if you replant mangroves in other areas it will take 10 years before they can be of help! The environmentalists and experts have all spoken against building the airport there but did anyone listen? Construction is still ongoing! Wow the audacity.

It's slightly like how the DMCI and other land developers had the gall to damage the skyline of a heritage site (like Luneta Park in Manila and not sure which developer did those in Mactan Shrine, Cebu). All for the sake of money huh? Where is the decency and respect? Some people just don't care about heritage conservation just like the disregard to protecting and conserving our natural resources! Ugh.

How fantastic really. So fantastic how big corporations are acting despite the environmental problems piling up worldwide.

The polar ice caps are melting, the planet is heating up, the ocean is getting more polluted everyday, people keep on cutting trees or burning them, otherwise they steal or illegally mine natural resources from other countries and environmentalists and indigenous people keep getting murdered because they want to protect their land and nature. Good Lord why do You have so much mercy on humanity? 😨

Anyway I don't want to talk about all the wrong things people do because there are still those who fight to keep more of our natural resources safe from greedy and ignorant people. Abuse and kill natural resources and we humans die too.

Think about it, where do we get the materials to have everything we need and want? The food we eat are from plants and animals on land and sea and yet we overharvest them and then throw away the excess! Plenty of people have no food to eat and are dying and we throw away good food?! Wow!!!

Where is the sustainability in that? No wonder we have food shortage because we only know how to take and not how to propagate, mass produce and distribute!!! Goodness gracious. And that's not even talking about the pollution. Good lord.

And what about our mobile phones and computers, where do all the metals and other materials come from huh? From the planet, from mining sites! And what usually happens in mining sites? It pollutes the land around it and God only knows what else happens.

My god do you know how many mining companies are abusing the Philippines (and perhaps other countries too)? And they even have the gall to say they have permits this and that. What's worse is they or people in collusion or benefiting from them have environmentalists/activists murdered just to get their way even if the environment and people's lives gets damaged/destroyed by what they do. Wow. A destroyed ecosystem & community will cause lesser food and item production plus more human problems. How stupid can humanity get? This is why I get angry at the world.

I don't want to see the day when humans will eat fellow humans or live on a planet full of water or plastics in the future. That would be such a terrible place to live in.

And so that's why if I could commit that crime and get away with it, I would. If only the trojan virus creators and hackers would do that instead of targeting all the non-wealthy people like us perhaps the world would finally be a better place.

Yes it may be a band-aid solution at this point but if you have a better idea then feel free to comment. πŸ‘

Good cause, good rant would be awesome to accomplish targeting the greedy who get rich off the land, with permits!

I'm glad you think so too. Ah if only those hackers had a more noble and different/better priority...

We heading down a sad trajectory which is only going to get worse "going green", so many lies are hidden under carpets!

That'd be awesome, @artgirl ! I remember one time, my daughter once told a tourist in our town in a very angry/sad tone (she was 6 yrs old then), "Kuya, pick your trash! Don't you know that you're killing the earth? You're bad!"

Haha sana all kids. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
