I think Morocco would be a great place to visit just as you described, get out of town and lay under and watch the stars. When it is dark in Alaska it is also pretty dang cold, I know deserts at night can get cold, but not quite as cold as an Alaskan Night so a night under the stars in Morocco would be fun.
