You say wrapped in banana leaves...Is it then opened up and eaten from within or does one actually eat the banana leaf too? Possibly a stupid question but I'm clueless when it comes to this food. Also, what's the bread thing on the plate? It looks like ham wrapped in a bread roll or something, also with olive? That looks interesting.

Just looking that hallaca 👀 and the salad is wonderful too, pretty the same as Russian salad!! We used to eat this on Xmas 🤤
You're Russian? I didn't pick that.
the photo has a salad and Im telling you it is quite similar to Russian salad
Ok.
It could be, remember that the Latino culture is composed of many imported traditions, and aboriginal traditions. But it is certainly very delicious.
Greetings G-Dog, how are you doing ?
Actually the banana leaf is used to give the shape, and boil the roll, after that you cook it, take the leaf off and eat it. What adorns that dish is the ham bread (also traditional here) and a chicken salad with potato, carrot and green apple. In this post you will see several aspects of the Hallaca.
Ham bread, yeah that looks really good!
