Slow...like watching plants grow

in Weekend Experienceslast year

I had nothing planned, I think because Saturday was so structured, although my plan not to plan anything was a plan in itself so...yeah, Sunday was planned and that plan was to do nothing much at all and not plan anything. Ok, I'm getting caught in a space-time-continuum here...I'll move on.

I've not been sleeping well lately; it's not surprise as my sleep is often quite bad. I was up at 05:30, wide awake after a night of tossing and turning, so did some Hive-reading. That did the job, I managed to fall asleep again and later when I woke I felt a little better. I breakfasted and plonked myself on the couch to watch some motor racing, with coffee. I didn't move for a while, I'll not say how long, you might judge me.

Eventually it was lunch time, yes I moved from the couch long enough to make and eat it, and then sat back on the couch went outside and did some watering in my garden. It was rather nice considering how hard I worked yesterday which you can read about here if you have any interest.

I love my garden, the growing and caring of plants and also just being in it relaxing, nights around the fire pit, BBQ's or just waking early and taking my breakfast out there whilst the sun rises. I do that and more out there, and it never fails to bring me enjoyment. That's how I felt today so decided to extend the enjoyment by combining it with something I (usually) find enjoyable and that's taking photographs. I say usually because I'm not good at it and sometimes get very frustrated.

I took about one hundred and thirty seven million photos and managed to take several good ones so I was happy with that. I plan to do a little post about them sometime but the one in this post was taken today - Sweet peas.

A little later I did a video chat with my nephew and watched him putting up and decorating their Christmas tree which was fun. He's only four but did a good job and I look forward to him being here for Christmas; I've not put my own Christmas tree up so that we can do it together. He seems to like putting all the decorations in one small area so...I guess my Christmas tree is going to look wonky as fuck this year. It's ok though, I don't mind. I video-chatted with my niece too and enjoyed speaking with her as much - She's the cutest little person ever...although is a little sick at the moment, poor thing.

That's about all I did today. I suppose I could call it a rest day and, thankfully, it went slow, like watching plants grow, and that suited me just fine. Monday starts the grind over again and this week is going to be fucken hell challenging but rewarding and I'll approach it with gusto and alacrity. What about you?

Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default - Tomorrow isn't promised so be humble and kind

I took the image in this post myself.

At least you had an easy day. Doing nothing is also hard work and needs time 😂
Ok, jokes aside, I thought I could have an easy day yesterday, they I got into baking and you know the rest.

It was relaxing for sure. The week started with some complexity but hopefully today is a little smoother. Another day closer to the weekend.

It sounds like a well-deserved day of rest to me. When my body talks to me, I try to listen. How was the race?

I always think about the marvel of sharing our lives via video chat. What a game-changer that was for me, especially moving around and missing out on special moments. While it doesn't take away the fact you are not there, you become part of their lives just by being able to communicate. The relationships have definitely gotten so much better! It was essential during covid. So enjoyable now. Finally, people are used to using them.

My grandmother had sweet peas growing up the fence line. I have really only ever seen purple ones, so the pinkish ones are pretty cool. I eat them in my salad. I use the whole thing. Sometimes I even sautee them a bit.

I look forward to seeing the decorating of the tree. I know you told me when your nephew is coming, but, I forgot! I know it is going to be fun. Decorating with a youngin is not for the faint-hearted. :) It will be unforgettable. The best kind.

You do know that eating an organic banana right before bed can improve the quality of your sleep. It sounded like quackery to me, but, I swear by it. They contain an amino acid that your body needs to produce serotonin and melatonin. Serotonin can calm your mind and body, while melatonin is responsible for regulating your body’s sleep-wake cycle. I pulled that phrase off the internet to be accurate in what I am saying. Another bonus is being high in magnesium, and insomnia is linked to low magnesium. If you have never done it, try it. A good night's sleep with such little effort?

Sleep tight!

The video chats I have are good although it's not as good as seeing them in person. I'm looking forward to my nephew getting here and I think we'll have a good time. Although I'll need a rest after he leaves, he has boundless energy.

The sweet peas are nice. I have white ones, purple and the pink...Nice to look at and easy to grow.

I'm not a banana eater Swigs. In fact, the thought of eating a banana creeps me out...although I'm happy to eat banana ice cream or cake. I know, I'm weird. The sleep thing is a constant scenario for me, but maybe I'll get a good sleep sometime...maybe when I'm dead.

I had a pretty relaxing day yesterday and enjoyed it. The racing was good and the doing nothing aspect too. A much needed Sunday.

I suppose I could call it a rest day for you. you needed one, I think. You've been going pretty hard lately and your body was telling you to slow down. And that's what you did. I love the fact that you took it easy and didn't push yourself. Feel a bit more relaxed now and get ready to tackle the rest of the week.

I think we should all know when to take some rest and went to push hard and get things done, right?

How about me...
Rainy grey cold day, one of those you have to switch on light at 2pm.
Having lunch with Amazon prime LOL

Sleep well and good week start for you!

Lol, lunch with Amazon Prime!

Nice work indeed, and a pretty good way to relax. 🙂

In addition to this beautiful cover that you give us and the growth of your nephews on Christmas Eve, I will approach the beginning of my week breathing life and appreciating the colors and shapes that the sunrise gives me to move forward with gratitude, the rest will come in addition.

Wish, life and health to you Galen

Breathing is a good idea, if we don't then things will decline quite rapidly.

I hope you have a good week.

It's nice to read a post about you finally taking it easy for once. You're always on the go, makes me dizzy. You outpace me a million fold lol.

As for the sweetpea, well they are awesome plants to grow and so very rewarding when they burst into colour.

May your week ahead be better, with more sound sleep, less tossurning and I hope this week at work is less challenging although by the sound of it, you already know what you're in for.

Looking forward to your garden pottering post.

Life is pretty hectic I guess and, like most, there's no real respite unless one creates it. I guess that's part of my design and create/ideal life ethos...it doesn't always relate to creating amazing things in life, but also sustaining oneself whilst that's happening. Rest is required, but difficult to find at times I guess.

Sometimes sitting down doing nothing looks lazy, but it's necessary for the mental health atimes most especially when you work alot.

I'm normally lazy when there is nothing to do.(or should I say when I want to do nothing😄

It's wise to know when a recharge is required and to take it when it's needed.

I think I know one or two things about taking a gazillion number of photos in search for the right shot: I usually do that too.

Ever since I got a new phone, I have been pointing its camera at whatever I feel needs some capturing.

I hope that little girl gets well. She wouldn't want to be that way for Christmas. There's a whole lot of fun for her. And then you'd get a much less wonky tree this year!

I'm pretty good with a phone camera, it's point and press the button, but with my actual camera it's a bit more complicated. I have fun messing it up there and occasionally I get a decent shot. That's good enough for me.

I am just learning recently about how actual cameras work. You'd have to adjust many things to get the right photo sometimes. Things like shutter speed, lens, and aperture. It's all worth it in the end, I guess, as they give much better quality as compared with mobile phones.

Cameras confound me mostly, but I get a decent snap now and then.

😂

"Oh shoot, what button did I press again?"

That's how it goes for sure.

How I envy you, it's been a long time since I rested on Sundays; of course we are closed on Mondays but in my opinion it is not the same thing. When I was free my Sunday plan was very similar to yours... always without plans, I took that day as it came and above all I relaxed to the fullest! Now I'm starting to cook, we update! Happy Sunday, Hugs!

The life of a chef, I understand. But, I think people like you love what you do, the creation, and so I think maybe got some feeling of reward and satisfaction from it?

I hope you have a good day off.

Yes, I love my job, seeing satisfied customers is the greatest reward. Then I love being in the kitchen, it's my kingdom eh eh. A thousand thanks!

That's the way to do it.

Well, you actually had a plan even though it was a slow one for you. At least you took some rest so you could get up and start grinding this week.
As for me, I am already making plans for how Monday would be for me. Though, kind of a bit tough and stressful, but I still would grind harder and make the best out of the week. A happy new week to you.

A little effort at the beginning of the week can help one have the ability to look back on the week later on and feel satisfy it was a good one.

Exactly. This is something I feel great about and I don´t miss such an opportunity to make the first day a productive one.

Yup buddy watching the plants and clicking it's photos is the best thing for me cuz i love nature photos.

It's surely enjoyable.

This flower looks very wonderful. Your garden looks very neat and clean. You are growing your plants very careful. Natural beauty always attracts the people's and give happiness. I was happy to see your garden flowers. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it's a nice looking flower indeed. Thanks for your comment, all the best for the week ahead.

My dear you really had a rest day today. and is good to rest especially when the body is given you signals. because if you don't, it can lead to one or two problems.

I did, and I enjoyed it.

Your day was a blissful one indeed, you took so many pictures and that's fine but I didn't see any.

What about you?
Mine was splendid, I did some house chores and went for christian meeting where I was encouraged spiritually.
When I came back I made some food for the week.

You didn't see any photos because I didn't put any, other the one, in this post. As I said in the text, I am doing a post later. Maybe you didn't read it.

I read it very well and am anticipating to see them, but in all you had a great day, my regards to your nephew.
