Hello dear friends!
I hope you had a great weekend, as I did.
Today I will take you to a beautiful National Park. They say it is one of the most beautiful in Europe.
During the former Yugoslavia, for me it was the most beautiful. At that time we had 7 National Parks.
Durmitor is located in Montenegro. We left Belgrade on Friday around 12 noon, right after work. We took the highway "Miloš Veliki" to Požega, then we continued on the road through Zlatibor, to the Brodarevo border crossing. Near us is the town of Mojkovac, where my school friend lives, so we continued with him and his wife after a short rest towards Durmitor.
We arrived when it was already dark at the foot of the mountain in the town of Žabljak.
We spent the night there and did not see anything from Durmitor.
Saturday morning greeted us with the sun's rays. We left the hotel and I literally stared at the scene in front of me with my mouth open. We had a quick breakfast and set off to get to the cottage we rented as soon as possible, so that my Goran and friend Uglješa, who had brought their bikes, had time to ride.
Ljilja, Uglješa's wife and I decided to visit as much of this mountain beauty as possible. Of course, we will go by car as far as possible.
We learned from the flyer and the map we received at the hotel that Durmitor is located on an area of nearly 40,000 hectares, so we didn't know where to go first. My Goran and friend Uglješa have already disappeared from our sight on their bikes.

Durmitor is full of rivers, but what is most interesting are the 18 lakes that Durmitor has. I will never forget what I learned a long time ago in school, which is that the lakes on Durmitor are called "Mountain eyes."
The national park has 4 canyons, the most famous of which is the Tara canyon, which is included in the UNESCO world heritage.
The highest of the 48 mountain peaks is called Bobot's hip and is about 2500 meters high. Pastures, meadows, 4 rivers and canyons, 18 lakes, really deserve to be written about, talked about, and above all to come here.
The weather, although sunny, at a height of over 1500 meters above sea level, although the sun was shining, was not very pleasant. We walked well dressed. Me, in a winter jacket.
Just looking at the top where there is snow gave me chills.
We visited 3 lakes, rested on pastures, picked flowers and photographed the surroundings. However, the most important thing was to breathe clean air and, as I like to say, "we listened to the silence."

We returned to Serbia, then to Belgrade, on Sunday, late in the evening.
It was one of the most beautiful weekends spent on the mountain, with dear friends.
