Last Day at the International Progressive Theater Festival

Today was the last day of the International Progressive Theater Festival here in Venezuela.

In this opportunity, the local theater of my city, Fundación Luis Mariano Rivera presented the Palestine play by actress Raeda Taha which was titled The Gazelle of Akka.

This play dealt with some of the most important chapters in the life of the Palestinian writer Ghassan Kanafani, who was a refugee in Lebanon and who at the age of 36 was assassinated with a car bomb.

The actress shows the life of this writer, through a monologue in which she talks about real events, and ends by establishing herself as Ghassan himself, who after his death, comes to the present to ask questions to his relatives.

I must say that the play was very strong, not for all the general public, but it established a message about the situation given in the Palestinian country. How the refugees live, and how they sometimes consider the same as a prison.

This was the first time I witnessed plays with so much professionalism, with so much passion. I can't wait for next year to see what other surprises the progressive theater festival will bring.

Best regards.
