I met the vineyard fairy [WE 121]

Hello everyone, days fly incredibly fast and it's already time for a new #weekend-engagement initiated by @galenkp. When I read the topics, I found the first one the most interesting although the whole concept is great, especially the ghost and the weekend disaster. 😊

But the first topic reminded me of the English exams we did at school and I found it fun. 😊

Fill in the blanks

Take one of the phrases below, fill in the blanks and write at least 300 words - bonus points for using your own photos.

  • This weekend I met ______ and we ______ together then...

  • This weekend I did something naughty with _____ and...

  • I'm starting a strict diet on Monday, and this weekend I _____

I chose the first phrase and I filled in the blanks.

This weekend I met the vineyard fairy and we attended the grape festival together then.

I found it interesting to complete the phrase and at the same time share my experience from this weekend.

Yesterday I spent the day in Sremski Karlovci, a small, picturesque town in Serbia. There is a grape harvest festival held there every year and this weekend was reserved for that event. Sremski Karlovci town is famous for grapes and good wine. It is a town of vineyards located next to the Danube on the slopes of the Fruska Gora mountain. It is a great cultural center of Serbia with many cultural and historical monuments and a long tradition. The poetic and artistic spirit is what makes it even more beautiful and that's why I feel very comfortable there and it's one of my favorite places for a weekend escape.

In town, everything was dedicated to the grape harvest, which is celebrated as a holiday.

SHE was my first impression. The first and the strongest. "She" is a vineyard fairy.

When we met her, we asked her how she was doing and if it was difficult for her not to move. She answered discreetly that she is fine and that the children who looked at her with admiration made her happy. We agreed that we are here for a good reason and that the grapes are more than just the fruit. Grapes are food, very healthy food that we celebrate.

We continued our walk in search of good wine and grapes.

We tried different types of wine at the stalls, and I like sweet wine the most, which we call "Shira".

In addition to wine, the stalls sold fruit, which is very healthy and tasty in this area. We bought some grapes and pears.

The town had a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere even though there were a lot of visitors.

Locals are considered to be very calm and slow people who do everything slowly and politely. I'm used to always being in a hurry, so I liked the change.

I love autumn in this town. Everywhere you turn there are picturesque views.

Along the way, we met a lady and a gentleman wearing traditional old city costumes. They were a real attraction.

And my daughter was very happy to be greeted by Sponge Bob. 😊

Creative children's workshops were organized at the festival.

Then we met another vineyard fairy. She greeted us with a smile.

Jugglers animated the children and taught them juggling tricks.

IMG_20221001_131120.jpg

And what a surprise! Two beautiful macaws!

IMG_20221001_132918_edit_538919828402663.jpg

I managed to photograph them, but their owner asked me for 5 euros for the photo. 😊

IMG_20221002_131607.jpg

The stage was ready for the show, which was scheduled for an hour.

IMG_20221001_130043.jpg

During that time, we went to an amusement park where the children had a great time. I was a little annoyed by the loud music there, so I couldn't wait to go to the show.

But the plan was changed by sudden rain. We went to a nearby restaurant to have lunch and to hide from the rain.

Although the show was canceled, we had a great day at the festival and returned home with delicious grapes, good wine, and beautiful impressions.

As soon as I read this, I was like: "Let's goooo!!"

To be honest, your pictures spoke a thousand more words than your actual words did lol. Not that what you said was bad or anything - course not! It's just that... the way you photographed everything, really made reading the post more intimate for me.

Kinda felt like I was there with y'all... You know what I mean?

Like you said, the combination of the festival plus Autumn, really makes for a picturesque type experience sorry.😄

P.S: Your little girl is brave, I would've shit my pants if I saw a human size SpongeBob trying to hug me like that XD

Hahaha thank you so much for this awesome comment! 😊 You are right, my daughter is very brave, she doesn't cry even when she falls, unlike my son.😀
I am glad that I was able to convey the atmosphere of that place, which is indeed very special. Greetings! 🤗
