Weekend Engagement Option two - "When was the first time you took your destiny into your own hands..."
Trailing down the mists of time, how to answer best is I don't know, you see when I was a wee lass I mucked around with my brothers and their friends most/all of- the time.
I suppose it was part of being allowed to investigate every stone upturned, climb trees to be part of the clan.
When looking down the rabbit hole perhaps around start of teenage years, always driven to be outdoors since being a girl, most chores were boring and indoors!
Much more fun going with the guys swinging on monkey ropes where you could easily break your arm or neck. Possibly explore under ground up water pipes through the village, yeah boys had more inventive ideas when getting to do fun.
Setting sail out of teenage years one is expected to grow up, Growing up you take your destiny into your own hands, at your own peril!
Destiny is a journey, perhaps I never took it into my own hands, life happened with adjustments after turmoil, followed inner voice seeking answers, then when finding "answers" a blurred vision of the right way.
Steering or guiding oneself, do we ever know our destiny with all the surprises along life's road?
After much thought I do not believe anyone is able to control their own destiny, we flounder throughout seeking a light to guide, or a buoy to hold us up.
Boldly stride forward reaching toward an end where we feel somewhat in control, that destiny you desired at fifteen slipped through your fingers, now turn back in bewilderment amazed you got this far.

Many try control you, guide you, do they know you? How does one reach your destiny when only you know your history.
Unable to control my destiny, if wishes are for fishes I want to end up in water be it mist or sea to float around forever, somehow be useful on reaching my end destiny.

You're speaking many wise words, Joan, and I still have no idea where or what my destiny is.
But there's one destiny we all share in the end, although in a different way. Yours might be floating with the fishes one far away day, and mine maybe in a big stove 😂

Oh I have many bright 💡 ideas, stardust, a broom stick, my brother always said fishes piss in water, drink !BEER so perhaps will have to rethink that one!

Yes that exceptionally good excuse came up quite often, now only at sunset.... we do slow down!

To be honest, it's a very bad sleep because you don't really sleep, the computers are running and you have to get up at any time... and after 24 hours shift I have to work another 8 hours in the office.

I was the oldest of the family and a tomboy. Always climbing trees and riding horses…miss those days.
Living life with it’s ups and downs has take a lot of that spunk out of me and I wonder if we are captain of our own destiny or merely a pawn controlled by a higher power….perhaps an alien civilization millions of years ahead of us.
Two older brothers we had constant fun, mischief, or fighting between the three of us, my little sister never joined in, so constantly had to watch out she never told on us 😊, ha ha growing up!
At twenty you have big dreams, then reality sets in, no I am not sure about destiny, I think making it this far has been an interesting journey.
Whatever happens is water under the bridge, being controlled or controlling remains the question!
A very clever approach with minimalist photography and rhyme. Love it.
I like the second photo of the little tree, dramatic and highly effective with its weather message.
I noticed @johannpiber put up a gorgeous post on minimalist photography and thought we must have some of those around, never used in archives and wallah!
Behind the little tree is a golf cart (with a rain coat) trying to find it's way home, had been hot clear day and hour earlier, then all hell broke out and the heavens opened.
I went back and had a closer look much to my humour. Some clever boy scout person was prepared just in case! But then, getting a good rain drenching from the heavens is invigorating for us is my belief. The garden and plants in pots always say thank you I noticed.
Place came alive after the drenching rain, children jumping in puddles as well.
That deluge arrived with hail, plants took a bit of a hammering, still happy after for the cooling effect from the heat of the day earlier.
I love your musings on life and destiny, @joanstewart. It makes me think about how I got to where I am and how much of my life was about choice and effort vs. just letting things play out as they will. Beautiful post!
