Random shots of Frŷslan from the water

in Weekend Experiences11 months ago

It has been a while already since we hit a weekender of water in the most Northern provence of Holland called Friesland by boat. After this it was a bit too busy with all kinds of stuff of life (you know it gets in the way!) but also passing my boat exam for instance to give it all a lot of posting time here on Hive.

But it does deserve some posts actually, because this region is beautiful and uiterlijk calm and with super nice people there.

Actually spending some days by boat on the water is a great way to get to know the region.

The thing with floating around in all kinds of random places is that is thing fine mixture of that you need to pay attention to where you are going. But on the other hand you are going slow enough to let the eyes and the mind drift off into nomansland.

Nature and animals

The cool thing of these random sceneries is that you see every day stuff. Check out this cow minding his own business. I wasn't even sure that cows liked water at all, and I am still not sure if they are actually able to swim of the current would get them.

But this one doesnt look too stressed and is just taking a dip in the hot weather.

This next snap was a bit hadden on the side of the water. If you weren't properly looking you wouldnt even see him.

But we all know what he wants. This one is out on the hunt for a fish passing by and waiting for the proper moment for his sashimi meal of raw fresh fish.

As said...you need some time on the boat to see this random stuff, but wow...I like it!

Frisians are proud people and they love their region. They also have their own official language which is taught in school and you can do an exam in.

For people not from here it feels a bit foreign even when you are Dutch. Although I must admit I heard more amd more people speaking actual Dutch versus the traditional language (its not a dialect!!).

This is the Frisian flag next to the Dutch one. You might know it if you are familiar with the milk brand 'Friesche vlag'. This has the same colours and logo.

And wow just imagine if you would have a place to live like this next to the water!

Beautiful indeed but that would also mean that you would have to be dealing with boats like me passing by and staring into your house.

Im not sure if anonymously chilling in the garden is so chill then!

And ofcourse the Netherlands are the country of the windmills. This one was useful for people like.us passing by the water to see where the wind was coming from.

That was a serious challenge indeed actually. The wind and the water current doing different stuff making it challenging to move around sometimes.

So wow...
Even if you are from Holland yourself heading out here for a couple of days. If feels like a different country and a good reminder on how beautiful your country actually is!

I have seen documentaries about this beautiful country and you have shared some amazing shots from there.
