RE: Weekend-engagement week 13: Ask me anything

I struggled with this "AMA" all night long...

What do you ask the most awesome person you have EVER NEVER met?

Insomnia is Real! After 30 years of self inflicted sleep deprivation to get the drive done. I can not sleep when I am at home. I have Millions of safe, alert, well rested miles, (not). Believe me folks it is deadly out there on the highways. Zombie Drivers

So my tired, fried brain came up with this question.

Question:

What would you be doing with your time if Firearms did not exist. No easy outs either. Don't say archery or swordsmanship. What major hobby would you replace shooting with?

KrazzyTrukker Fun Fact...

I am a slot car guy, it is a hobby I have little to no time for. Maybe some day I will find the time? But not with this 100+ hour a week career that like a vampire, sucking the life force from me. Consuming, overwhelming, relentless...

Sort:

Good question.

I'd do wood working, restoration of old stuff mainly I think, you know, pick up something that's old and needs a lift, restore it, recycle or up cycle. I have done a few things in my day, but only half-heartedly through lack of equipment which comes from lack of funds.

I think that's something Faith and I could do together as she enjoys that sort of thing too, has a good eye for it.

At some stage guns will take a back seat and I'll need to replace the time with something. To be honest this year has made me think a lot about it as we haven't been able to shoot that much due to the pandemic. I have been culling of course, I mean at the range.

So yeah, that's it. Something we could do together, find enjoyment in, satisfaction at the finished product.

I like slot cars. We had some second hand Scalextric track as kids, a couple cars...was fun. You probably get so little time for it...Change of job in the wind?

Probably a big negative on the career change. I maybe should have done that 10 years or so back. As age and health come into play at our age. Yes, I had to loop you in on the age comment "Old Man"... lol

I will make the best of the next 5-10 yrs. Till the autonomous trucks come in. And I want a nice prime mover to finish out in. To keep in good shape for some resale value when it is time to quit.

I sold my second truck to a man from mexico. Not every country will be advanced enough for auto trucks. So resale should be possible.

I am with you on the making old new again. I enjoy that with wood and metal. I am a trained welder. So I could do many things.

A response from another old man 😆

It never hurts to keep an eye out for what sort of jobs are open at any given time. Life is bizarre like that, it sometimes has a plan for us that we could not have foresaw until it happens.

I think by that time the bots will have taken a lot of our jobs!

Yeah, after I typed that comment I thought the same. Too late for us to pivot all that much. It is what it is.

Best to live our lives as best we can, enjoy ourselves when possible and be content. Discontent isn't a good thing to aim for.

Seems like a good plan, the autonomous vehicles will come along and take over eventually. Round out your career in a decent rig and then move it on to someone before retirement.

I can't weld, never done it. Would be a cool skill.
