Hello all, contrary to some reports, I'm not Dead yet. Well ok, I stole that line from the movie and the T-shirt. I've not been posting often recently.

Holy cow it's been 2 months! Well, on that note, I decided was a good time to start back in this year and a great topic for this week's weekend-engagement topics.
My weekends have been filled with work, and only recently got back out this past holiday weekend. The shirt above was from an outing a few weeks ago. We went to see John Cleese live in Daytona Beach. His performance was great, he did a preview talk, then we watched the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail, then John came back out and did a Q/A session and provided additional details on how the group came up with the movie and great insider info on some of the personalities of the group and audience of the time. It was very enjoyable.
That all leads to the weekend engagement question of what will I be doing this year differently. Well, I don't believe in "New Year Resolutions", but I do believe in committing to changes, regardless of the time of year. One of those changes I'll be making is continuing with my health journey.
I won't go into all the gory details, but I made a commitment to myself last year to exercise more, especially around cardio, which I've not done much of historically. I took on VR boxing with MetaQuest headset as a primary new method. Wow, was I surprised at the results. The short answer is I dropped 40 pounds (18Kg), reduced my overall fat percentage from 31% to 18%, reduced my visceral fat index from 13 to 7, my resting heartrate from 85 to 65 and reduced my metabolic age from 71 to 48 years (and I feel like it!). It's been a great journey that I'll provide in another post (no glp1 or other drugs, just hard work).
That level of change took commitment to action, and to continue. My primary driver was to get back into good enough shape to learn to surf. I've gotten up on the board a few times now, but still not quite what I'd call surfing just yet. Looking forward to the upcoming season in 3 months, and still working on core ab muscles and leg squat strength for better popups.
This has required cutting back a few other areas, like hive posting, the drone contest, other personal interests, and of course reining work back into reasonable hours. The work is getting back under control now, but still committed to the near daily exercise time.
You will start seeing more posts, I actually did get outside this past weekend for drone pics, wildlife pics and videos, so look for more regular postings and engagement.
Now for something completely different.....
Here some additional pics. I also received these wonderful killer rabbit slippers from the show. If you've never watched the killer rabbit skit from Monty Python, be sure to search it up.

I love the way the slippers flip up to show the bloody red fangs and teeth, ready for a good blood letting.

Run Away!
Some are trying to lose weight and others are trying in vain to stop the decline :-)
Welcome back and good luck.
Yes, trying hard here to stop the muscle loss that comes with age. Wow, didn't realize the prime years were so far behind me. Many may be in different parts of their journey.
Expressed in seasons, I am at the beginning of autumn :-). But that doesn't mean I want to become a "dry, bare branch" :-D
I like the Autumn reference. When our leaves can become more colorful until we rest, then regenerate into the next life.
Blessed Be.
I'm worried that after the autumn of life, only winter will come. My soul will experience spring in another body or dimension :-)
Yes, I often wonder what that will be like. Will any of my experience carry over? I wonder what type of body or energy that will be? I'm also one of those that would jump onto an alien spacecraft in a heartbeat, just to see what it was like. I wonder if our consciousness could re-incarnate on a different world? Hmmm, much to still experience and enjoy until then.
Many questions and almost no satisfactory answers. At least not in the Christian faith.
According to the laws of physics, there can be no end. Only a transformation into another form of energy (or whatever you call it).
Perhaps only Eastern teachings are clear about this.
Haha wow!
I would have LOVED to attend that show and enjoy such a formative favourite with John Cleese himself! Watch out those slippers don’t nibble yer bum!
Funny how similar our paths were last year. Though I didn’t lose 40 pounds and make such huge strides! I did commit to training jiu jitsu regularly and have a plan to up the frequency a little for some fun, useful and programmed activity.
I am not one for resolutions either but I am resolving to get back to more regular and consistent posting to augment the regular curation.
Welcome back we kept the lights on and look forward to more of your adventures.
It was definitely a great one to see if the tour not finished yet. Nice on the martial arts, I also have been playing around more with my Wing Chun, practicing form again and wooden dummy. Considering taking up classes again, but not sure.
Oh for sure! When you go, you will wonder why you hesitated and why you waited so long. Trying to remember the style I trained a couple decades ago and think it was choy-li fut and do-pi. A friend of mine trained wing chun and is sneaking up on it after a layoff by taking tai-chi.
Lets do it!
Wow, those are some impressive gains! I wish I had the time I need to commit to that sort of thing. I can only do about twenty minutes each morning, so I do what I can and hope it is helping.
20 min each morning is a great pattern to get! I found I get a great workout doing one or two 8-12 minute boxing or combat style workouts with the VR headset (FitXR on MetaQuest has been my primary). Makes it feel like playing a video game, rather than just exercise.
I definitely think it is making a difference. I just wonder if I committed more time to it if it would make a bigger difference.
That is great news.
The drive to be healthier and do cardio is no easy task. Ask me how I know this.
And more postings is also a bonus.
Yes, the consistency was the hardest part for me initially, but now if I go more than a day or two without I get crabby. Feeling so much better now energy wise.
Glad you are still around. Has been awhile since I saw your last post.
Been reading and voting a bit, but haven't had cycles for posting time. Starting to reclaim a bit and will be more active. Still working on my annual Solar stats, but likely a couple posts on it this coming week.
Welcome back from hiatus!
"Hello all, contrary to some reports, I'm not Dead yet." <- didnt recognize the quote but I LOVE it, let me stole it in my turn xD !PIZZA and a happy year of 2026, let it be peacefull and have less troubles and breakingthrou like the last one.
Hello there, be sure to check out the Monty Python skit around "I'm not dead yet". It's a bit of dark humor based on the historic black plague, but some of us still find it pretty funny :)
