And resilience and humor are the bane of our kin. I think those are some of the things that have kept us from doing a thing about the government. We are like the toad in the soon-to-boil pot of water. It's already too late to jump out then it get too hot.
For sure, you have to work with what you have without putting your lives in too much danger. I understand the boiling water theory and something I bought into a long time ago.
Canada is far away but you can tell it's the beginning of the end unless things change quick, I think covid open the wrong can of worms and on well on the way to full socialism...never go full socialism.

Yeah, well were in a sticky situation and people are scared. I keep telling them to put down the news but they want to shut down the whole country instead. So much damage done already and everyone lost their jobs yet rent and everything is still very expensive.
Well, there are certainly things that are not going to happen so easily. If the country is shut down, the people in charge will continue with they funny business and have no problem with it.
I hate to think that a government would use a horrible enough pandemic to advance the agenda (socialist OR rightest) but I think that.
Socialists do not care about that kind of stuff. Politicians in general use anything as leverage to advance their agendas.

They don't care at all, our pm has badly taken advantage of the situation to advance his agenda. Politicians never let a good crisis go to waste.

It is a serious case of moral and psychological degradation, though, and politicians know that's the key to guarantee their permanence no matter how corrupt or inept they are.
It's sad for the population. Venezuela used to do well enough financially not that long ago. I would suppose it's really degrading to the citizens. Humor is nice to get thru but this government behavior shouldn't be allowed in any country. I think about that stuff in the direction Canada is going, right now they are evicting people living in tents in the winter because the economy is so bad as far as jobs but everything else cost more yet the landlords are complaining of too many vacant places and how difficult it is to get renters yet rent keeps going up and up and up , so is everything else. I'm not saying we where you are yet but I think I know what you mean by degrading purposefully to get an obedient society and continue crimes against them, break their will.
They claim lack of resources for the citizens yet live lavishly themselves and making anyone feel like they are less than nothing and abnormal if they struggle to feed clothe or put a roof over their heads. When they pay themselves millions in money they print devaluing the currency for the rest of the country until their savings buy nothing. The same is starting to playing out here, we are just at the beginning stages, you are way more advanced.
