A couple of days ago I posted on my Twitter that I was making a bread pudding at almost midnight. It had started early, but with dinner in the middle everything dragged on a bit. Finally, I liked the result, although in my opinion the caramel was quite dark. This made me want to make another one that fits me better and it did: with a lighter caramel, the pudding looked less chocolaty. And now, I spent a weekend baking a cupcake at my aunt's house. This is more contact in the kitchen than I usually have on a regular basis 😅.
Hace un par de días subí a mi Twitter que estaba preparando un budín de pan casi en la medianoche. Había empezado temprano, pero con la cena en medio todo se alargó un poco. Finalmente, el resultado me gustó, aunque en mi opinión el caramelo quedó bastante oscuro. Esto me dió ganas de hacer otro que me quede mejor y así fue: con un caramelo más claro, el budín se veía menos chocolatoso. Y ahora, pasé un fin de semana horneando un bizcochuelo en la casa de mi tía. Esto es más contacto en la cocina que lo que suelo tener regularmente 😅.
We hadn't visited my aunt in a long time. For some reason or another we could not coordinate to see each other until finally today everything was given so that we can meet. She waited for us with lasagna for lunch and between gossip and gossip we caught up on everything we owed ❤️. It's always good to know what's good to tell us.
Llevabamos tiempo sin visitar a mi tía. Por alguna razón u otro no podíamos coordinar para vernos hasta que finalmente hoy todo se dió para que podamos reunirnos. Ella nos esperó con lasagna para almorzar y entre chisme y chisme nos pusimos al día con todo lo que debíamos ❤️. Siempre es bueno saber qué tiene de bueno para contarnos.
In Argentina, any time is the 'time for mate', but I think that Sunday afternoon is the supreme time for mate, so we wanted to prepare something delicious to accompany it. The original plan was to buy bills, but then we didn't feel like going out so we better bake something ourselves. I, who came with a pastry boost in the week, had a great time making this ❣️. So we took out the fairly modern recipe book that my aunt has and there we chose one cake to make it.
En Argentina cualquier hora es la 'hora del mate', pero creo que el Domingo a la tarde es la hora suprema del mate, así que quisimos preparar algo rico para acompañarlo. El plan original era comprar facturas, pero luego no tuvimos ganas de salir así que mejor horneamos algo nosotras mismas. Yo, que venía con un impulso de pastelería en la semana, pasé un gran momento haciendo esto ❣️. Entonces sacamos el libro de recetas bastante moderno que tiene mi tía y ahí elegimos un bizcochuelo para hacer.

A funny thing that happened is that I had started beating the eggs by hand because I thought my aunt didn't have an electric mixer. I had been doing this for a while, my arm was getting tired, until my aunt came up to me and said 'why don't you use the blender instead?' AND IT RESULTS THAT SHE DID HAVE AN ELECTRIC MIXER 😂😂. At this moment I couldn't contain my laughter, but hey, luckily the work was easier because I don't know how much more time I needed for that smoothie to increase the necessary volume 😅.
Algo gracioso que pasó es que yo había empezado a batir los huevos a mano porque pensé que mi tía no tenía batidor eléctrico. Llevaba un tiempo haciendo esto, ya se me estaba cansando el brazo, hasta que mi tía se acerca y me dice '¿por qué no usas la batidora mejor?'. Y RESULTA QUE SÍ TENÍA BATIDORA ELECTRICA 😂😂. En este momento no pude contener mi risa, pero bueno, por suerte el trabajo se facilitó porque no sé cuánto tiempo más me faltaba para que ese batido aumente el volumen necesario 😅.

It took us a little over an hour to do all of this but the end result was worth it. Our cake came out tall and fluffy, just the way we wanted it ❣️. We ate everything, I think not even the crumbs were left. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than eating and eating 😂.
Tardamos un poco más de una hora en hacer todo esto pero el resultado final valió la pena. Nuestro bizcochuelo salió bien alto y esponjoso, justo como queríamos ❣️. Nos comimos todo, creo que no quedaron ni las migas. Que mejor manera de pasar una tarde de Domingo que comiendo y comiendo 😂.

I must say that I have grown a bit fond of pastry these days but I don't know how much longer it can last. As for the bread pudding, I'm even more excited to keep improving the recipe to make it a little moister. I make that pudding to recycle old bread, and for some reason there is a lot of frozen old bread in my freezer. I have to practice for a while until I get it right. And I hope my family really enjoys this stage of me-cooking 😅.
Debo decir que me he encariñado un poco con la pastelería estos días pero no sé cuánto más pueda durar. En cuanto al budín de pan, aún tengo más ganas de seguir mejorando la receta para que sea un poco más húmedo. Ese budín lo hago para reciclar pan viejo, y por alguna razón hay mucho pan viejo congelado en mi freezer. Tengo para practicar para rato hasta que me salga bien. Y espero que mi familia disfrute mucho esta etapa de yo-cocinera 😅.

En realidad comer es uno de los mejores placeres de la vida. Cuando lo hacemos en familia luego de hacer nosotros mismos las meriendas es excelente. Sentarse a degustar y a comentar los resultados siempre resulta agradable.

Your aunt's kitchen looks like a fun place to be with all the ladies gossiping and baking cakes - I kinda got a bit of FOMO there. That cake looked delicious, I'm glad you got to bake so much this weekend, making bread pudding close to midnight is totally something I would do 😄
