And you, what did you do on Sunday?

Hello my dear fellow Hive members, last Sunday I was pleasing palates, read on and you will find out how my day went.

On Friday I went to the grocery store with my husband, we were missing some products and while there he told me that he was craving for a good soup, so we decided to buy the ingredients to prepare it on Sunday.

In Venezuelan families it is very common to prepare a good family soup on Sundays, it is a dish that provides us with vitamins and minerals from the vegetables and the selected meat. In this case the Sunday soup was made with beef ribs and leg plus chicken. A good source of iron, vitamin B6, B12, magnesium, zinc, among others.

The day of the preparation arrived and after breakfast I started with the preparation since the process would take a few hours. When I make soup I always prepare a considerable amount to taste it several times, the next day it always tastes better. Sometimes I save a portion for my mother, sometimes as soon as the soup is ready I give it to my closest neighbors.

And so I start, placing in the pot the ribs, the leg (previously seasoned) and the jojotos (corn) since they are the ingredients that require more time to cook, after almost two hours it is time to incorporate the yucca, I make a sauce with the seasonings which I add to the pot along with the chicken and the rest of the vegetables. I add a little water and test the flavor. I refine the seasoning and finally the cilantro.

A few minutes before turning off the pot, I assemble the arepas (made with corn flour). In Venezuela we accompany the soup with arepa, even if it has enough vegetables the arepa is never missing although there are regions that also accompany it with cassava (it is like a thin and crunchy cookie of circular form elaborated based on yucca).

My husband's plate with ribs, leg, chicken, vegetables and enough broth, my daughter's with chicken, ribs and few vegetables and mine the same as my husband's but less quantity (a smaller plate).

The soup was very good, there was repetition and we were satiated. I passed to my neighbor the ration for the family which they ate the next day. This lunch made us sweat so we went out to the terrace and refreshed ourselves with some cold beers. For a long time we just listened to music, no one spoke. It was a moment of total relaxation to the point of almost falling asleep, that made us realize that we need some loungers for the outdoor space since we only have a hammock and chairs.

Then we went to our rooms to enjoy a movie, in the evening we had some fruit for dinner. It was a quiet family Sunday.

I say goodbye as always wishing you good vibes 💞

What a wonderful Sunday, food music then beer and a movie!
Does 1.5m daughter eat more or less than you I wonder🤣
What was the movie?

😂 😂 My little one eats almost the same as me but she doesn't recognize it. As for sweets we are evenly matched.
The movie was A Date with the Past, it's on Amazon Prime Video, I recommend it. 👍

jeje so she eats the same as you:)
Ah ok, I have Amazon Prime I wonder if released in the UK, sometimes they show different things across the various regions!
May I have one of your arepas please:)

Hahaha my daughter plays crazy but she is a good eater, she went out to her mother.
I hope you can see the movie, it's really good. 😁
What else would I want you to taste our delicious arepas. I would prepare a tasting for you with the best fillings. 😋

hehe I think your daughter is crazy like her mother🤣

I will keep learning to make it better every day.

When I make soup I always prepare a considerable amount to taste it several times, the next day it always tastes better.

I love eating hot food so I always preferred eating immediately and it tasted better that way. Only recently did I realize that most foods are tastier when cool or left till the next day. I thought people made that up but it's true!

The soup looks good! Is there a particular name for this Sunday soup? Also, is cilantro and coriander the same thing? I have coriander dried leaves and I just read somewhere that both come from the same specie or something like that.

hahaha well it depends on the food, soups, grains and bolognese pasta sauce sure do taste better the next day, my experience certifies it, working in an office 8 hours a day forces me to cook to save.
That soup as it has beef and chicken is called cruzado and is usually prepared on weekends.
I think we are talking about the same Cilantro or coriander but in the soup is placed fresh.
