Most people take advantage of the weekend to rest, but we have to go out to work to carry out a vaccination sweep of both children and adults to prevent future viruses or complications in them. These sweeps must be carried out periodically to increase the number of vaccinated people, especially in communities where children live, as they, along with the elderly, are the most likely to suffer from chronic viruses. On this occasion, we had to work with a high-risk community because it is located near a lake containing contaminated water, which attracts several types of mosquitoes that carry different diseases.

In addition to administering vaccines, I took advantage of the opportunity to visit some patients whose homes are difficult to access, making it complicated for their families to transport them to health centers. Furthermore, these patients are bedridden, which makes transportation even more difficult. That is why, even if it is only four times a month, we take the time to make these rounds, as there are quite a few patients to visit. On each trip, we try to take a different group so that the trips are not too strenuous and do not tire out the staff who carry them out, because, although it may seem easy, these visits are not at all easy due to the difficult terrain.

While one team went out onto the streets, others stayed in one place and waited for people to arrive to be vaccinated. Due to the size of the area, it was not possible to cover all locations, so we shared the work: while some went out to walk the different streets, others stayed at a vaccination point.
