Breaking Rules

We all have an irresistible thirst for the forbidden stuff, an unknown curiosity to see why it's forbidden, what happens if I step inside the forbidden parameter. From childhood, I too have had this thirst, but only a few times I may have crossed the border because I was a calm and timid type of boy, mostly abiding by the rules. But yeah, nobody is a saint; all we need is to dig the graves to unearth those crimes.

The first one I would like to say is one from my school days. Like I was in a strict school in our city, there were extreme punishments for even tiny rule breaks. So coming from such a school, I was transferred to another one before completing the school level, the last two years there. I was there with two of my other friends from the previous school. We three, and more like us, formed an invincible group.

"ᵂᵒʳᵈˢ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵖⁱᶜˢ ᵃʳᵉ ᵐⁱⁿᵉ, ᵘⁿˡᵉˢˢ ᴵ ˢʰᵒᵘᵗᵒᵘᵗ ʷʰᵉʳᵉ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᶜᵃᵐᵉ ᶠʳᵒᵐ!"

So what rules did we break?

If I am to answer this, then what we didn't do should be the question, hahaha. Coming from a very strict school where the tiniest offense was treated as a serious one, here nothing goes like that. Even the government raised concerns of punishment in the schools, warned against being too strict, or against physical punishment. They would be like, “There is fine for this, this, and that.” We were like, “No worries, fine is better than the previous experiences we have.”

Starting from bunking school to leaving from ongoing classes from the back while the teacher is busy writing on the board. We did hangouts without going to tuitions, bunked the classes after tiffin time, but didn't go home, rather roamed here and there or chilled at a friend’s house. The school’s program, we aren't invited? So what, we know all the secret routes and methods to just sneak in, get food, and vanish. Deadline missed? No worries, go straight to the teacher, flatter a little bit, and get the work done, hehe. Cheating? That we didn't do, but yeah, we had our tricks to escape the maze of teachers asking questions.

Apart from school, if I were to talk about other rules, if I had violated it would be the most recent one, journey on a train without a ticket. Hell yeah, well, I'm not at fault, but there were some things. Like the train goes from location A to Z, but, if I had to just go from A to B, there wouldn't be any ticketing system for that short distance, the ticket checker doesn't even come for such a short distance, but while going out of the stations, you need to showcase the tickets, otherwise you will be fined twice. So why should I pay twice? So we need to sneak out those checks, while everyone is bound to go in a route through the checks, we would look for alternative routes, like walking around the station, finding unused areas, and sneaking out from the maze via routes that only a few know. Haha, did this multiple times, but I'm determined to pay them back somehow, like buying ten tickets for me would pay for the past nine times, right?

So yeah, there are countless incidents where we may have broken the rules, sometimes the rules are not practical, or sometimes we were eager to just break and taste how that feels. But yeah, never broken serious ones that will cause trouble to someone or an extreme offense.
