Hello everyone!
I want to share with you a new adventure that I did last weekend in the Ávila (Caracas, Venezuela).
It had always been a dream of mine to climb and camp in the Ávila, but I had never found the right time for it. It wasn't until the Saturdays morning that I grabbed my backpack and went on an adventure.

Quiero compartir con ustedes una nueva aventura que realicé el fin de semana pasado en el Ávila (Caracas, Venezuela).
Siempre había sido un sueño para mí subir y acampar en el Ávila, pero nunca había encontrado el momento adecuado para ello. No fue hasta la mañana del sábado que tomé mi mochila y me fui a la aventura.

Fact
There are two ways to climb to Lagunazo (Ávila), one through Sabas Nieves and the other through Gamboa. (Altamira and San Bernardino, Caracas respectively). The first route is longer and more tiring, the second is a shorter route. Without a camping backpack it takes you between three or four hours.
The route started from the entrance of Gamboa, the climb here is asphalt, as you go up you come across dirt roads. This same route gives you the option of taking firebreak and going down to the Chacaíto ravines, since our destination was the Humboldt we continued straight.

Hay dos maneras de subir hasta el Lagunazo (Ávila), una por sabas nieves y la otra por Gamboa. (Altamira y San Bernardino, Caracas respectivamente). La primera el trayecto es más largo y más cansón, la segunda es una ruta más corta. Sin mochila de camping te demoras entre tres o cuatro horas.
La ruta comenzó desde la entrada de Gamboa, la subida por aquí es de asfalto, a medida que vas subiendo te encuentras con caminos de tierra. Esta misma ruta te da la opción de tomar corta fuego y bajar a las quebradas de Chacaíto, ya que nuestro destino era el Humboldt seguimos derecho.
Our first stop was the Ávila cross. There we have lunch and rest for a few minutes to continue on our way.
It should be noted that it was the first time I went up with a camping bag, therefore the weight made me tire faster than normal. I took a break every 10 minutes.
On the way we met a group of people who were also going to Lagunazo, so we were not entirely alone.
Unlike Sabas Nieves, this route has few viewpoints of the city. You get one when you pass the tarmac, and it's a spectacular sight.
We arrived at the Humboldt hotel at 5pm and rested for about five minutes, it was important to move as quickly as possible if we wanted to see the sunset in the lagoon and to tell the truth, with heavy bags there was a greater chance of getting tired.
Nuestra primera parada fue la cruz del Ávila. Ahí almorzamos y descansamos unos minutos para seguir con nuestro camino.
Cabe destacar que era la primera vez que subía con bolso de camping, por lo tanto el peso hacía que me cansara más rápido de lo normal. Tomaba un descanso cada 10 minutos.
En el camino conocimos un grupo de personas que también iban hacia el Lagunazo, por lo tanto no estuvimos del todo solos.
A diferencia de Sabas Nieves, está ruta tiene pocos miradores a la ciudad. Consigues uno cuándo pasas el asfalto, y es una vista espectacular.
Llegamos al hotel Humboldt a las 5pm y descansamos unos cinco minutos, era importante avanzar lo más rápido posible si queríamos ver el atardecer en el lagunazo y a decir verdad, con los bolsos pesados había más probabilidades de cansarse.

When you get to the Humboldt you have to go down again but by another path to go back up the mountain, when you do this section vice versa (going down from the lagoon) it takes you an hour at most. But when going in the opposite direction and with a camping bag, it takes you two hours (Beware! I say this for those of us who are not used to climbing with a lot of weight).
Cuando llegas al Humboldt te toca bajar nuevamente pero por otro sendero para volver a subir la montaña, cuando realizas este tramo en viceversa (bajando del lagunazo) te demoras una hora como máximo. Pero al ir en sentido contrario y con bolso de camping te demoras dos horas (Ojo! Lo digo para los que no estamos acostumbrados a subir con mucho peso).
Unfortunately we were not able to see the sunset in the lagoon, but even so we were able to witness it in several viewpoints, I was satisfied with the photographs that I managed to capture.
Desafortunadamente no logramos visualizar el atardecer en el lagunazo, pero aún así pudimos presenciarlo en varios miradores, quedé satisfecha con las fotografías que logré capturar.

We arrived at the lagoon around seven o'clock, where we filled up with water and set up camp.
Llegamos al lagunazo a eso de las siete, dónde recargamos agua y armamos campamento.

One of the couples we met at the lagunazo had gotten engaged and were celebrating, we joined them and ate a mini cake. Or that's what it seemed like it was, haha.
Una de las parejas que conocimos en el lagunazo se habían comprometido y estaban celebrando, nos unimos con ellos y se picó una mini torta. O eso es lo que parecía que era, jaja.
The cold that he was at night was barbaric, not having brought an extra pair of stockings, the ones she was wearing got soaked and the night was difficult to bear. I'm not lying when I say I didn't sleep all night, a part of it was because she was anxious to see the sunrise. So I stayed talking at dawn and killing time.
At half past five all the campers were waiting for dawn.
El frío que hacía en la noche era bárbaro, al no haber llevado un par de medias extras las que tenía puesta se empaparon y la noche fue difícil de sobrellevar. No miento al decir que no dormí en toda la noche, una parte de ello era porque estaba ansiosa de ver el amanecer. Así que me quedé hablando la madrugada y haciendo tiempo.
A las cinco y media todos los campistas se encontraban esperando el amanecer.

El cielo lleno de colores pasteles dónde las personas aprovecharon para tomarse fotos, es una experiencia enriquecedora y hermosa a su vez.
Por supuesto, no podía faltar nuestro café mañanero.

We waited until 9 in the morning and headed back to the big city. Where along the way I made a new friend.
Esperamos que se hicieran las 9 de la mañana y partimos nuevamente a la gran ciudad. Dónde en el camino hice una nueva amiga.

She, who accompanied us to the city, was very reserved, she did not like the photos. She just wanted to go on and on, but when we stopped, she followed suit and sat down to rest.
We believe that she lives in the Ávila, since in order to have this resistance, it must be that she gets used to going up to the Humboldt. I hope that when I return to find her again.

Disfruté el relato y las fotografías. A veces a uno se le olvidan cosas a tomar en cuenta preventivamente. En una ocasión me quedé en Punta Varadero en el Parque Nacional Morrocoy, pero colindando con la montaña, y al atardecer aparecieron miles de jejenes y empezaron a picarme. Lo más rápido que pude abrí un hueco, le coloqué ramitas, cocos secos y lo encendí. El humo hizo que se fueran. No había llevado repelente de insectos.
