How shall I be remembered? As a mother?
As a wild woman? As a freedom fighter? As a lover of life? As a mushroom fanatic? As a dancer?
There are so many things I am passionate about, things that inspire me and motivate me. Things that really help to elevate me.
Just this weekend, I found the courage to join a group of amazing musicians on stage, where I both sang and played my bodhran alongside them. I felt quite intimidated at first, as I have heard them play a few times and I have always been blown away by their talent.
And yet, they were the ones encouraging me to come join them.
I have been tempted before, to join in with others when they were singing. But that little voice within would always talk me down. My insecurities preventing me from taking the leap.
But not today. Today I stepped up over my fear and shared my voice and my rhythm. It felt so good, so freeing. And on top of that, I got some really great feedback. With one lady asking me, if I performed anywhere else.
I know I'm not the best singer or the best bodhran player, I think what people enjoyed, was seeing someone get over one their fears and really loving it at the same time.
Life, gives us all of this opportunities and we have to be ready to take them. Because, " If not now, then when".
So I would like to be remembered as someone who wasn't afraid to try. Who wasn't afraid to search out the life, that I really wanted and explore the many different ways in which I could make it work.
I'm well aware, that the way I live is not for everyone. That it wouldn't be everyone's, cup of tea.
But I've lived long enough to know what I want and to go for it. Within reason that is. Life is meant to be explored, to be lived.
There are far too many distractions in the world at the moment. With most of our entertain, coming from screens. But these screens, make us more detached from what really matters and that's been fully present and doing the things that you enjoy and that empower you.
So to break it down even further, I wanted to be remembered as someone who was true to myself. Who followed my own path and finally got the courage to rock out on stage, lol.
I congratulate you because you overcame your fear and this is how you will be remembered, I know that there are more challenges to overcome, but you have already taken the first step.

Good to see you putting yourself out there. I am sure I'd have enjoyed watching you conquer stage fright. As a poet, I know what it is like to do as I have once or twice in my life.

Our insecurities is our biggest enemy to try things in life, sometimes we are afraid to made mistake or being judge once we failed however there's a saying, it's better to try and fail rather than do nothing.
Always better to try, it's just taken my a while to get there xxxx

This is amazing and as simple as it may sound reading this, I know it was a great deal to put your fears aside just to accomplish something.
Hopefully one day, we can get to hear your voice singing and we can sing along as we dance also.

I think that's the best I've seen. Someone who was true to herself to the very end. Isn't that what matters the most? The fact that you said steadfast in the things you believe in, following your passions and doing the things you love. Makes a life a whole lot worthwhile doesn't it?

Funny enough, I wrote a post remembering my dad, today.
After I've left this body, I would love to be remembered as someone who liked to make jokes, to make people laugh and someone who, overall, tried his best to make many people's lives a little bit better, by being kind to them and paying attention.

Fantastic, good on you for overcoming your insecurities and just going for it. As you say, if not now, then when? I bet it was freeing and you felt lighter and maybe a bit elated afterwards?
