The sky was rapidly darkening as the storm approached the small coastal town. Lightning lit up the night and thunder echoed in the ears of Lily, a 16-year-old teenager. As she watched from her bedroom window, she felt a strange connection to the approaching storm.

Lily lived with her mother, Sarah, in an old house located near the cliff. Sarah was a renowned marine scientist and was out of town doing research on the high seas. That night, Lily felt especially uneasy, as if something bad was about to happen.

Suddenly, a deafening clap of thunder shook the house, followed by a widespread blackout. Lily felt a shiver run down her spine and reached into the closet for a flashlight. Just as she found it, she heard a noise coming from upstairs.

-Hello? Is anyone there? -Lily asked fearfully.

A distant murmur was his only response. With flashlight in hand, he stepped into the darkness, slowly ascending the stairs. As he progressed, the tension increased. As he reached the landing, he noticed that the loft door was ajar, letting a faint light escape.

Intrigued and fearful at the same time, Lily pushed open the door and her heart skipped a beat. There, in the center of the loft, was a strange crystal sphere emitting a blue glow. It seemed to be suspended in mid-air, as if floating on its invisible support.

-Unbelievable! -Lily exclaimed in amazement.

Suddenly, the sphere began to spin rapidly and a furious wind filled the room. Lily instinctively recoiled as the storm intensified outside. In the midst of the chaos, a mysterious voice echoed in her mind.

"Lily... help me."

-Who are you? -Lily asked aloud, not knowing who she was addressing.

"You must bring the sphere to the lighthouse. There you will discover your destiny and find the answers you seek."

Sin tiempo para pensar, Lily agarró la esfera de cristal y salió corriendo de la casa. La lluvia golpeaba su rostro mientras atravesaba la oscuridad hacia el faro, cuya luz había sido apagada por la tormenta.

Arriving at the lighthouse, she stopped at the entrance, panting from the effort. The orb was still glowing in her hand, guiding her to the top of the lighthouse. As she climbed the stairs, howling winds and rain lashed the building.

When she reached the lighthouse platform, she placed the sphere in the center and watched as light began to emanate from it. The lighthouse lit up, defying the storm with its glow.

Suddenly, an ethereal figure emerged from the light, revealing itself to Lily's astonished eyes. It was a woman dressed in a white robe with long silver hair floating in the air.

-Lily, you have shown courage and determination in bringing the orb to the lighthouse," the woman said in a soft but powerful voice.

-You are the chosen one, the keeper of the secrets of the sea.-

Lily was speechless as the woman approached and extended her hand.

-Fate has brought you here to fulfill a mission. The sea is in danger and only you can save it.

-Me? How can I do that?-Lily asked, overwhelmed by the magnitude of the mysterious woman's words.

The woman smiled and replied:

-You possess a special connection to the storm. In your hands is the power to control its forces, to balance the delicate marine ecosystem. Only you can bring harmony and protection to these turbulent waters.

Lily looked at the sphere in her hands, now understanding its purpose and its connection to the storm. She accepted the challenge and vowed to protect the sea and all its inhabitants.

With the guidance and wisdom of the mysterious woman, Lily began her training as a guardian of the sea's secrets. She learned to channel and control the energy of the storm, to communicate with the sea creatures and to understand the fragility of the natural balance.

For months, Lily traveled the oceans, protecting coral reefs, saving endangered species and working in collaboration with marine scientists around the world to preserve the beauty and life in the seas.

With each new mission, Lily felt more connected to the ocean and its powerful force. But she also understood the responsibility that rested on her shoulders and the constant challenge of maintaining balance in the midst of storms and natural disasters.

Over time, Lily became a legend among the sea dwellers and sailors who had seen her use her gift in times of danger. Her name was associated with protection and hope in times of storm.

The teenager who once stood watching the storm from her window was now the brave guardian of the sea's secrets linking her destiny to the ocean and the storms with her eternal power.

Hi @caroolina. Thank you for sharing your interesting story in The Ink Well. It's a beautiful and compelling story.

We have some feedback for you. First, you wrote a fictional story and posted it for the creative nonfiction prompt. Be sure to learn the difference between fiction (made up stories) and creative nonfiction (real life stories). At the top of the creative nonfiction post, you will find a link to our article on Creative Nonfiction Tips which explains this genre.

Second, please always remember to read through your story carefully prior to posting. You will nearly always find errors to fix which you were not even aware of.

Here are a few examples.

In this paragraph, you switched to male pronouns for Lily:

A distant murmur was his only response. With flashlight in hand, he stepped into the darkness, slowly ascending the stairs. As he progressed, the tension increased. As he reached the landing, he noticed that the loft door was ajar, letting a faint light escape.

When translating content, be sure to check over all the pronouns. For example, if the main character is a female, you could search for "he," "him," and "his," and if they are pertaining to the female character, then change them to "she," "her," and "hers."

Additionally, you wrote one paragraph completely in Spanish:

Sin tiempo para pensar, Lily agarró la esfera de cristal y salió corriendo de la casa. La lluvia golpeaba su rostro mientras atravesaba la oscuridad hacia el faro, cuya luz había sido apagada por la tormenta.

Third, be sure to check out our article, How to write dialogue in fiction to learn how to use the correct format for dialogue.
