Sitting on that bench...

in The Ink Welllast month

Friends, how are you all? I hope you are well.

Sometimes, my mind just feels like that for no reason, right? That afternoon, I was feeling exactly the same. With worries about the state in my head, pressure from the office, and feeling sad about not saying anything—all of it, I couldn't find peace. I thought, let's take a walk, if only I could feel better.

While walking, my eyes suddenly fell on that old bench on the side of the road. Oho! This is that bench! Once, I interacted with my friends for hours. So much laughter and jokes, so many dreams for the future - all this started floating in front of my eyes. I don't know what I was thinking, but I went towards him and sat down. It is impossible to describe many memories associated with that bench.

After sitting, a light wind was blowing. I could hear the sound of rusty leaves in trees. Suddenly, I thought, Hey, how much I used to sit on this bench! What to happen, what to do, what kind of person I want to be - I used to make a lot of plans about these things. Today, when I think of those days, I think I am lost. Where is I today?

What can I say? We run around all day long... Job, family, a fight to prove ourselves... Under the pressure of all this, we forget the 'me' within us. The 'me' that smiled a little, cried when it was hard, but never gave up.

By then, the soft light of the afternoon was falling on us. The sun was setting... That soft light was calming the mind. Maybe we don't get answers to all the questions in life every day, but maybe the effort to find those answers is beautiful.

When I get up from the bench, I do not know if you believe it or not, my mind felt very light. It seemed that I had not lost anything, but I had found an old part of myself. It seemed that I had lost peace within myself, at least a little.

So I also tell you, whenever you feel that you cannot do it anymore, that everything seems so difficult, then stop for a while. Take five minutes for yourself. It may be on an old bench, or in a corner of a balcony, or just one window. You will see that the light inside is still on.
