Reminiscences of my primary education-The Ink well Creative Nonfiction Prompt #23.

When I was able to reason, my mother told me that on the day of the delivery she was in a chair, accompanied by a midwife, who knew how to position her so that she could give birth easily and the child would be born without problems, since in that town there was no hospital to attend births. That day in 1951, around eight o'clock in the evening, the labor pains intensified. In front of the house there was a circus that was starting its debut that night. The dancer, besides dancing, sang classical songs, to cheer up and transmit a good show to those present. This singing could be heard in our house. When the debut began, my water broke and, after a few seconds, I was born. My mother told me that this song encouraged me to go out into the outside world without any inconvenience.

As time went by, God predestined me to have several moments of happiness, but in truth only 2 moments were the ones that made me very happy in life.

Soon after I grew up, when I was six years old, I went to school to study first grade, at the Bolivarian School, because at that time there was no preschool education. When they scheduled a festival at that school. By that time I was studying 4th grade, I was the one chosen to make my debut dancing the "Danubio Azul". That was the happiest day of my life, because my dream was always to be a dancer of the classical Ballet, when I got home very happy I told my mother. She, who was a seamstress, told me.

"Don't worry, I will make you the costume with her slippers".

She bought a blue silk fabric, the faralaes that formed the very short skirt attached to the rest of the dress, she made them out of blue tulle. She made the slippers in white, with her strut to stand on tiptoe on my feet. When I tried on the dress. She said to me:
"You look like the dancer who made her debut in the circus those days when I gave birth to you, no wonder you came out with that vocation".

I smiled, and showed her some steps of the ballet, she, radiant with happiness, smiled with a face of satisfaction, which overflowed much joy.

Finally, the long awaited day arrived, to present myself in the School Auditorium, which was decorated with blue curtains and each end with tricolor balloons similar to the colors of our National Flag.

That was my first moment of happiness. When the classical music started and the curtains of that auditorium opened, I greeted the audience, then I closed my eyes, I felt my heart beating so hard that I could perceive its beats, even with the noise of the audience. I began to dance to the sound of that waltz, inside me I imagined that I was the Cuban dancer Alicia Alonso. When I was finishing the waltz I heard the shouts and applause that filled me with satisfaction.

When I finished my debut, I ran into the arms of my mother and siblings who were present. When we were on our way back home, I made a remark to my mother:

"I want you to enroll me in the Ballet school, which is near the church of Santa Inés".

My mother felt a coldness run through her from head to toe, as a bodily expression of this, her eyes moistened like the dew when it moistens the leaves of the plants at dawn and she answered:

"I don't have the resources to pay you for that Academy, all your brothers study at the Institute their Secondary Education and I have to help them."

I raised my arms, hugged her in a gesture of gratitude and I could perceive that her body was cold as an ice floe. I didn't want to ask her why she was so cold but I guessed the reason.

After the snack I went to my room and thanked God for having allowed me, if only for one night, to be the classical ballet dancer.

The other moment of happiness in my life was the celebration of my fifteenth birthday, when I danced the waltz "The Blue Danube" with all my family and friends. At that moment I had a flashback as I felt the same emotional sensation I experienced as a 9 year old girl.

Although in the course of my life, which is quite a lot, I have had other moments of happiness. Those two moments were the ones that marked me. I remember and evoke them, I would like to stop time and return to the past to relive and enjoy them.

I love your story, very touching. I really liked that you wished you were a dancer, your mother was a very hard working woman to make the costume, I congratulate you for the consideration you had for your mother.

Thank you for your comment. Have a nice day

This is a perfectly constructed story. Putting aside the content, which moves us, the narrative follows an arc that is clear and organized. Your first paragraph delivers a wallop. The theme is consistent throughout, almost like a three-act play.

As for the content: the narrative is persuasive and vivid.

Really good job this time, @rammargarita

(BTW: my daughter was a professional dancer--not ballet but the love of dance was strong within her, always)

Thank you for your comment to my story. I am glad that your daughter is a professional dancer. That love that you feel for a type of dance or ballet requires studies, I could not do them, because of the economic situation, but it was something that was embedded in the deepest part of my heart and I can only evoke and remember them. Have a happy day with your family

This is a beautiful and bittersweet story, @rammargarita. It's sad that you were not able to pursue the dream of becoming a ballet dancer, though the memories of your moments of fame are wonderful. You provided lovely details in this story, giving the reader some truly interesting flashbacks from your life — all the way back to the moment you were born!

Thank you for your comment, it fascinated me. Have a nice day with your family.
