In my eyes, love is like honey; it’s slow and sweet, but makes some people wanna throw up.
The reason I decided to become a love fortune teller is because I loved love, and I loved helping others. The look on peoples faces when I brang them to my magical mirror and they saw their true love staring back at them. It could be their next-door neighbor, the stranger they met at Starbucks last week, that good-looking doctor at the hospital who let them have one check-up on the house.
For some people, seeing their other half left them wordless with tears in their eyes, and other people dragged their fists down and had that “I knew it was them!” moment.
I smiled one fine Tuesday morning while drinking my usual: black coffee with a spoonful of honey. Hard case, or easy book, it doesn’t matter. Everyone who had ever stepped foot in my office had found their soulmate.
So when Greeve Reaper stepped into my office that morning, I barely raised an eyebrow.
“Hmm, so the Grim Reaper’s son is looking for true love?” I let out a laugh disguised as a sigh.
“Look, I’ll pay you extra to keep this secret. But yes, I was wondering who was in my fate.” The man asked. He had oatmeal cookie brown skin and serious hazel eyes. I could hardly believe a boy this good-looking was the son of the best hitman for hire there ever was.
“I get it, you don’t want any funny-business, you just wanna know who your OTL is and leave.”
“If I even have a One True Love,” He mumbled.
I was caught off guard for a moment. “Everyone has a true love!” I told him.
“Yeah, but I’m the son of someone who can snap and have someone dead. Who says fate is kind to people who have inherited that kind of power?”
I stared at him. It was true, the spirits didn’t like souls who could bring death as they please, and neither did I. But even if he had inherited his father’s fatal fingers, Greeves wasn’t the Grim Reaper, and he seemed nice so far. Why would he not have a true love?
“Everyone has a true love. I’ll prove it to you. Wait one moment.” I smiled and got up from my seat.
For a moment I admired myself in my magical mirror, my side-swept braids black and glossy, my pink sweater going well with my dim green pants.
I walked back to my magical mirror and asked, “Dear Spirits of Love and Fate, who is the Dove in which this Greeve Reaper shall Date?”
The mirror didn’t shimmer or ripple to a person as it usually did. It stayed blank.
My forehead wrinkled. Maybe the mirror was a tad rusty. I repeated the spell and waited, but I got the same result.
“Hmm.” I put a hand to my chin. Ah. I’d seen this glitch a few times before. The problem was that Greeves was a closed soul. He kept his feelings and personal life locked inside. He’d have to open up if he wanted to find his true love.
I went back to him.
He was scrolling away on his phone. “Your mirror said no results were found, right?”
“...nnnooooo,” I stretched out the word, thinking of what I would say next. “You just have to loosen up a bit to get the best results. What are words that describe yourself?”
“Myself, Me, I, Greeves,” he answered.
I deadpanned. “What book genres do you like?”
“I don’t read.”
“What type of coffee do you drink in the morning?”
“Black.”
“Now, we’re getting somewhere,” I smiled.
I ran back to my mirror and recited all the facts Greeves had given me.
“Now, find him a soulmate!”
Nothing.
I said everything I knew about Greeves, the love chant, and then the same thing in reverse order with the latter didn’t work. All I saw was the reflection of a teary-eyed girl with a pink sweater on. It wasn’t working.
“It’s okay, you can say I don’t have a true love and give up,” Greeve informed me from the front desk.
“But that’s not true! Everyone has a true love! Everyone!” I yelled.
I chanted the love spell until I began to cry. Cry because I failed at being a romance fortune teller, and because Greeve, handsome as he was, had no one as his soulmate.
His face turned sad for a moment when he noticed me crying, and he came over. He looked at the halls filled with love potions and romantic pictures before he held a hand out to me.
I took it.
“Why are you so upset?”
“I failed you! Either that, or you don’t have a true love! Watch!”
I chanted the spell one final time, and then stepped aside so he could see the mirror. “See?”
He was still staring into the mirror.
“See!? The only thing you can see is your reflection,”
“I don’t see my reflection,” Greeves said.
“I see you.”

The Grim Reaper’s son! Let’s just say that that was the very last thing she expected. Looks as if he came looking for his love in the only place he was ever going to find her.

Everyone has that one true love
It could be yourself, your family or your love love
I bet he couldn't hold it any longer that's why he came looking for his love by all means
Who knows how Greeves would have met his true love if not going to the fortune teller?
