That's sad. It's actually the reality faced by the loved ones of many people that their are wearing the military badge of their country. It's never easy.
Most of the time, they barely get enough time to connect with their love ones. Of course, their family feels the impact of the absence.
Well well well, he failed to keep this promise, but he can still make up for it. I guess that's a goodnews.
Well Done @ubani1. This post is the one selected to be ranked and curated by our readers at @dreemport.
It wasn't Dad's fault, his job is. He also didn't know something like that would come up but he doesn't have any choice.
I hope Tommy learns to understand that Dad loves him and how he hoped to spend the moment with his family but he can't.
An interesting story. Thanks to @dreemport for leading me here.
The story creates tremendous empathy with the child (Tommy) and yet you do not embellish with highly emotional terms. You create the emotion by describing scenes and characters which place us inside the story. Very good job, and great use of the prompts.

Such a heartbreaking tale, @ubani1. The children of soldiers can have a very rough life. It must have been difficult for the dad to tell the truth. He probably didn't want to upset the boy just as he was about to go to school. But the boy will have a hard time ever trusting his father again.

Wow. This is so empathic and a good read too. Tommy and mum must have felt her and husband which they need for different purposes. May kids suffered the same fate too. But when duty calls, obedience is paramount.
Found my way here through @dreemport.
Having a dad who's a policeman, I can totally relate to your story. Sometimes, I barely see my dad more than twice a year because he's posted to duty posts in other states.
Nice story, man
Auchhh... Duty Calls!

Enjoy their visit ✌️
I really enjoyed the story and it shows that you are now matured enough to understand why your Dad had to always make those sharp trip.
It's the Clarion Call. You get to answer the call, under the rain or in the sun. Hahah.
Nice one Bro
