VOLUNTARY blacklists are used to mitigate harassment and help filter out boring content (spam).
It's just like setting a spam filter on your email, if someone is harassing you, you just filter them.
It doesn't "do anything" (scarlet letter/black mark) to the "bad" person, unless you VOLUNTARILY join (subscribe to) a blacklist that happens to have that person on that list.
For example, if this proposal goes through, the first thing I'll do is UNSUBSCRIBE from marky's vigilante BS blacklist.

There's a proposal to make hive blacklists opt-in/opt-out.
Basically like a mute-list that any individual can create for themself and then others can choose to subscribe or unsubscribe to that user's mute-list (so they don't have to create/maintain their own mute list).
If this gets implemented, I might just abandon the old platform altogether!
Perhaps anarchy already exists and "THE COMMUNITY" is merely the highest manifestation of organized crime. – special thanks to @thoughts-in-time

Your scathing critique is requested.
In concur with everything you said. Maximum Logic.
:)
Haven't seen you around in awhile. Are you packing up planning to leave so you removed the delegation?....just when I thought I was "big" stuff running around dropping those pennies....lol. I guess I can just go back to upvoting everyone now.
When I saw that the old site started stealing funds from "bad" users and will in all likelihood continue this vile practice, I knew it was time to abandon ship.
I cleared all my delegations from the old site and will be powering-down and transferring everything here.
I added you to my https://hive.vote/ so any posts and or votes you make should get a boost.
I appreciate that.
I am not against that idea. It is called customization.
I'm not getting it. How would it negate others from having their own black list as they do now? Seems that it would take no more time to add someone to your own mute list as it would take to opt in or out of another persons blacklist. What's the difference?
This is what I see as a huge difference.
