RE: The Warren DIY Park

in SkateHive3 years ago

Thank you! I will. We just had a freak snowstorm so there won't be any pours soon. Normally we shoot for Sat/Thurs to work on it, depending on people's schedules.

Yup! Hunter was a guy from the community when he was a teenager. The park is dedicated to him and Anthony.

And yeah, I mean I know I won't raise a ton of money but our donations are so small anyways(none of us exactly have any cash to spend) that I figured I could just motivate myself to match whatever the skatepark post raises from my own pocket. It'll get us some materials or a new tool hopefully :)

Thank you for your support!

You are welcome.

A great idea to match the rewards. I'll follow your lead.

Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate it. Although, I think that you voted the cross post, which to my knowledge is null?

This is something I don't understand on HIVE nor have I really tried to. Cross posting. I originally posted my content in the SkateHIVE community as it was directly relevant to skateboarding. Then I cross-posted it to the Freestyle community because I think it would be great to add some more activity to that community. Alternatively, I should have just posted something original there, but I thought it was appropriate.

But that's the part I don't understand. When I cross-post something, my intentions are more or less a "reblog"; but within communities. What happens to the rewards from cross-posting? I don't think I've ever done it before so I don't quite understand.

Additionally, when I look at a cross-post from Ecency on my phone, you do not see the post; rather a link to the original post. I could be very wrong but I kinda feel like it comes across as me spamming the site.

There's a lot of things I still don't understand here; but I'm learning. If you have any insight on cross-posting I would be very much interested in hearing!

Thank you again!

I still have a lot to learn here.

Let me check the vote. If I really did that, then I'll vote for this one as well. Thanks for noticing it.

No no, it's OK to cross-port it via Ecency or PeakD functionality. Cross-post wasn't designed into the platform at the start. The current solution is a sort of hijacking a post to point to another post. That's why the rewards are declined automatically.

The approach is not perfect. The front end has to be aware somehow that this is a cross-post. Not all interfaces do that. And the ones that show it properly, don't do it in a consistent manner.

Yet, don't worry about it.

I could very well be wrong; like I said I still have plenty to learn.

I understand why they would decline the rewards, I just wish there was a way to effectively post an article/post/whatever under more than one community. However, that does open the door for people to take advantage of it. If that is allowed than someone would be able to post their post in every community they belong to/feel like regardless of relativity, etc. So I have no insight or suggestions to offer towards a solution 😂

But yeah, I'm not worried! It was just something I noticed and I pointed it out more to spark a conversation about cross posting in general because, and forgive me for repeating myself so many times, I'm learning and don't fully know if my current understanding of cross-posting is correct!

You were right. I did boost the cross-post and not the original one. My mistake. On Ecency the cross-post looks almost identical to the original.

I asked the team to somehow remedy the situation.

It's better not to have an option to cross-post multiple times in one go :)

Have a great Sunday.
