Hello GU Community!
I share with you the recent Ranked Weekend, which was the last one before the new Core Set refresh (CSR) releases on March 7, 2022. The CSR release will likely have a significant impact on the meta going forward.
This past weekend, Control decks dominated our top 20, with Control Death (Board Wipe) taking several of the top spots. Board Wipe Death is one of the top control decks due to its consistency in controlling (sleeping and wiping) the opponent's board, drawing necessary cards, and getting to 9 mana to play its win conditions.
A new Control deck that emerged this past weekend was Nature, due to the recent buff to Sage of Renewal. However, Control Nature may already be on shaky ground going forward, as the CSR includes changes to cards - namely Sage of Renewal receiving a slight nerf.
There were also a few players that placed well playing faster decks. Namely, Aggro Slayer War and Aggro Burn/Card Draw Magic. Light and Deception did not place any decks in the top 20, however there is a distinction between Light and Deception. Deception is performing decently and Light is barely on the fringe of the meta, with the lowest overall win rate and representation in the meta. Enjoy!
