Why did Cent lose value?

Hello everyone. A significant portion of Hive-Engine tokens have experienced abnormal value losses over the past few weeks. Cent has also seen a decline in value over the last week. This general downward trend could have several causes, but in this article, I'll discuss a few reasons for Cent's decline.

  • A few whales are leaving Hive-Engine (or even Hive itself). Over the past few weeks, several individuals have been selling large amounts of tokens, clearing out their Hive-Engine portfolios. Naturally, Cent is also affected by this selling wave. This selling wave will likely end for Cent around May 7-9.
  • We generally set the reward distribution period for Cent's liquidity pools for a period of one year. Last August, we reduced the maximum supply of Cent to 100 million. We stopped distributing Cent in liquidity pools other than those included in the Stablecoin Study. However, there are still liquidity pools distributing large amounts of Cent.
  • Recently, LP rewards were distributed in the Hive/Tribe liquidity pool, and the reward distribution period was restarted. Yesterday, the same process was repeated in the Hive/Trade liquidity pool. Tomorrow, we will perform a similar process in the Cent/Pob liquidity pool. During this process, some liquidity providers decided to sell a portion of the tokens they received.

Recently, we restarted the LP reward distribution in the Cent/ETH and Cent/Bee liquidity pools. We did not add Cent tokens as LP rewards to these liquidity pools. We will continue this strategy in the coming period. Therefore, the reasons mentioned above will disappear in a short time, and the selling pressure on CENT Token will decrease significantly. Stay tuned until we meet again.

Why do you think these whales leave Hive Engine? If the selling wave will likely end around May 7-9, the most reasonable action now is to accumulate.

Especially after the crypto operation on February 6th, the only price trend for many Hive-Engine tokens has been a decline. Some projects have already been abandoned. This is a known fact. However, as time passes, hope diminishes for projects that are almost dying.

There doesn't seem to be any problem with Cent. However, as we are the project administrators, we cannot offer any advice.

I witnessed firsthand a few abandoned projects. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the update. I don't understand why anyone would bother liquidating their position right now. What's a whale today? Someone with $1.50 worth of CENT? My position is now worth $0.27 and I'm sitting at #10 on the hive engine richlist.

Hello. When I mention "whale," I'm not just talking about the Cent token. Some users are selling many tokens. This affects other tokens that are in the same liquidity pool. And unfortunately, the way sites display the richlist is inaccurate. For example: I delegated 7 million to the @centtoken account. I have approximately 2.5 million Cent in the Cent/Trade, Cent/Tribe, and Cent/Pob pools. However, my username is not on the Cent richlist.

Cent is still one of the few tokenized projects that I am very excited for on hive (along with $DUO).

I won’t go into detail here on why I am reducing (all) my investments right now (last blog post gives some insights what is going on in my life right now), but I can assure it has nothing to do with the cent project.

Solid team and good project. If my personal situation would turn out oke in a few months I hope to be able to re-enter the project again.

Hello. I learned about your spouse's health condition when you first shared your post. I hope they recover soon.

Besides that, users can invest in any project they wish, and withdraw their investment whenever they want. Please don't feel uncomfortable. The reason for the price drop is mostly due to tokens like BEED, Leo, Pob, etc., which have liquidity pools with Cent. For example, the stablecoin BEED, which should currently be priced at $1, is currently at $0.8 :) The main reason I shared this was that most Cent investors use the project for trading, not for curation or staking, especially for switching between liquidity pools. Therefore, we wanted to inform users. In conclusion, please don't worry about it.
