While I've been planning the creation of some community tokens for a long while now, awaiting some confirmation on a few things before announcing more details, I've been looking at hive-engine and some trending volume tokens and realized how little I know about most of them. For some reason I've never really gotten too involved, most likely due to how busy my schedule is with many other things layer 1 (or should I say layer 0 - the community), but I'd like to hear what my readers are involved with, what they've put skin in the game on and what they're most excited about.
Personally the only two tokens I'm currently somewhat vested in is POSH, WOO and LEO in that order.

About 1 year ago, I made my first steps in crypto through Splinterlands, afterwards I discovered hive.
1 year later, I'm actively collecting the following tokens on hive:
WOO: Its the token of Wrestling Organization Online, an upcoming game on the hive blockchain. The game itself is planned to launch in Q3 2023. In February, the presale for land is coming.

Starpro:
I didn't start to actively collect it, but will probably start with soon. It's a token from the Rising Star game, not their inflationary Starbits but one with limited mints per day. Although Rising Star is a clicker game, I think they will keep busking.

Besides Hive / HP / HBD, the only tokens I collect are game related. Probably because their usecase is the most clear (for me).
Income tokens are doing well. Epic tokens are very underrated.
Is there a token called Epic or what do you mean?
Which income tokens are you mostly looking at? I know I missed the boat on BRO at least.
Not saying it may not be a good time to get in again but I mean I ignored the community early on
EPC short name for it. Epic Token is full name. It's to do with @epicdice. Holding the token pays small residuals in hive.
Outside of Hive I'm mostly committed to
LEO of course
SPS for Splinterlands which you could put DEC in there and soon a host of many other tokens
Besides that others I'm heavy in would be primarily games that are upcoming on hive Exode, Muterra (Jan 14th Alpha Launch), LVL, CCD/SQM, SOULS, SIM and so on ar the games I enjoy the most and see that they could grow and become something big.
In terms of communities it would be
ONEUP but that went through some weird stuff last year. It has a great vision as to what it could be but they need to get stuff figured out. A solid gaming community token could do well if done right. That puts that one on a hodler gang moto at the moment to see what might be.
I'll be honest with you though 95% of these layer two tokens have no real revenue or business plan behind them and those I don't mention here because they are mainly sells for me as they come in for one of the above tokens instead.
Yeah, hive's l2 has been kind of weird but I guess the general sentiment is kind of the same compared to the crypto space as a whole (i.e. 90% of them bringing the shit in shittokens).
Can't say I expect much more than actually having a plan at this point cause I understand how hard it is to create demand for tokens, lucrative sinks, etc. Hopefully many look at what splinterlands has done to see what worked and what didn't.
I can tell from experience that if POSH wasn't aimed at what it is, it would've been quite expensive for me personally to keep the price afloat, trust me, I tried early on until we had to move into a delegation for POSH system and the use of some post rewards to pay for devs and uphold the token value so people continue sharing to attempt to bring in traffic. Hopefully we manage to build more things on top of it this year with devs having more time for Hive along with improved tokenomics and potentially some demand other than people throwing money at it for fun or being altruistic.
Please talk to @shanibeer aka @eddie-earner and her EDS tokens and Saturday Savers Club that helps people save up both in Fiat and her income tokens. Her whole set-up is amazing. Prepare to be astounded!
Apart from that...I'm impressed that communities like @neoxian and @pob are going strong but the rest of the tokens are generally a sea of broken dreams.

@acidyo - EDS are an income token, pegged at 1 HIVE each. All the HIVE (token purchases, content, airdrops, traded H-E tokens) is powered up and delegated and then income is distributed to EDS holders. Weekly report.
SPI is the growth token - funds are mutually owned by the token holders and used to invest in somewhere around twenty different income sources. Growth is about 9 x at the moment, also pays about 8% HIVE income. Weekly report.
I also really liked reggaejahm, intended to grow the tourist industry in Jamaica (ie off-chain), unfortunately, badly hit by pandemic and original Hive fork. May still rise 🙂.

I was a fan of reggaejahm early as well and their idea and plans, they were also incubated in OCD for a while until the content became a bit too general for our incubation. Hope they make a comeback!

As we know it's so easy to create a token on hive as compared to other blockchains which I really love
But it's also have a narrative side, users keep creating tokens by paying few dollars as a fee but then struggling to find liquidity, because without real utilities or use cases no one interested to buy
We also should think carefully about marketing of smt tokens outside of Hive blockchain community
Why smt tokens are not listed on Centralized exchanges like Binance and huobi etc, is there is any technical limitation or hurdle?
Only one token is listed or traded on exchanges which is a SPS token of Splinterlands which I think only becomes possible due to the splinterlands supports of multiple blockchains

Well those wallets mainly work on those big chains which is ethereum and their tokens and binance smart chain and their tokens, it'd be great if keychain could somehow integrate or be integrated into those, though. Hopefully some point in the future.

Apart from Leo, who in my opinion is the one with the most potential, I currently hold enough tokens.
the ones I prefer however are PGM, Posh (even if I don't hold tokens) POB and Sport... Ah and with the Splinterlands card rental I'm accumulating some DEC
Given the fantastic Hive ecosystem, I believe that many other tokens based on interesting projects can be developed in the future.
I look mostly for income tokens, even if some of them are quite expensive (like BRO), so I focus more on the cheap ones (i.e. PIMP and LOLZ).
As for the other tokens, I like the ones linked to:

Good question, I trust there are at least 4 tokens: SPS, SEED, POSH and CUB.
SPS is related to Splinterlands, the guys are working hard for the next developments like LAND and Tower Defense, to name a few. Current price $0.02!
SEED: the bear market is currently suffering and all the investments managed by the wise @empoderat will bear fruit with the next bull run. In the future SEED will be able to secure profits in HBD!!

LEO: Pretty much a no brainer.
While I'll generally stake or hold at least half of any tokens I earn, am airdropped or whatever, I've only bought a handful. BRO, Workerbee, DHEDGE, LVL, INDEX, BXT and Utopis (since sold) come to mind, mostly in small amounts. Most of those pay some sort of dividends. LVL was more speculative. Currently I'm buying a little BXT now and then. I also delegate to earn some BRO...sort of like buying it I guess.
The above tokens have a bright future apart from the OG $HIVE. 🔥👊

If I'm not mistaken I think I've been on the platform for a little over a month now (Active), so I'm not fully involved in that aspect, but that doesn't mean I haven't seen it. I'm very curious and I was able to see that internal "Hive-Engine" marketplace and although I know absolutely nothing about the tokens there, I've been able to tell that it's a bit hectic. Maybe in the future I will buy some tokens to see how it goes. Although I also know that many of them arrive to my wallet without notice, I have many tokens there that I have no idea how I earned them.
I'm in the same boat with you. I don't know how I earned them too but I believe, time will make things clearer.
You may have missed BRO early, but you can get in on Ray's second token, LGN (Legion).
INCOME by Eco is a good one to hold. PIMP by EngineWitty is also good. We have a meeting every Wed at 2pm UTC if you'd like to get involved in that.
EDSMM is nice, as other comments have mentioned. But that one may be selling out soon, so the window is closing.

I like Leo because it's one of the most complete at the moment. Besides I just discovered that Leofinance is on Brave and I have started tipping it (together with Ecency). I will write a post about it in a coming days.

As others have said, LEO tops the list. EDS is one I really like for the Hive dividends. I bought the miners (EDSM & EDSMM) and collect EDS with them which then pay a weekly HIVE dividend. I'm accumulating Legion (LGN) which is the new one from BRO. CINE, PIZZA, and CARTEL have some good communities so I've got some of those and then CTP and STEM because of who runs them. Other than that it's either gaming tokens (SPS, DEC, LVL, WOO, CROP, SIM, GLX) or the "drip" coins (ARCHON, DHEDGE, LENM, APE).
Well i have been gifted a lot of tokens and also gotten delegations.
For promising tokens at the moment you should look at PIMP and DREEM.
I also used to get a musical token for my #ttt posts (a contest started by @ablaze), BEATZ was the name if i remember correctly, don't know what happened to it actually, just stopped receiving them, and that's pretty disheartening considering how coolly simple the token name is😕
My favorite is DREEM from Dreemport. The founder, Dreemsteem, is using the project to help people build up accounts, as well as make genuine connections. I truly believe it helps in retention :) ... The token is going to have various use cases.

I think the AFIT tokens are probably the most useful tokens other than HIVE.
I am not an expert on the subject of crypto as I am still in the learning process, but I dare to say that one of my favorite tokens on the network is @thgaming that supports content creators related to the games found within hive, and not only that, but they also work to give use cases of the thgaming token making collaborations with several games that are here such as splinterlands, risingstar, kingofduels, muterra and so is integrating with other tribes to strengthen the token at the same time. I am gathering some tokens to acquire an asset in the game kingofduels that can only be obtained with this token and at the same time I also have some coins in stake that I hope to accumulate many,
