The closest i will get is the scene from a james bond (possibly living daylights???) when he finds Stella dead on the bed after her husband been eaten by a shark :-)
As for wet palettes. i love mine. i make 5 or 6 ready to go. and then when painting takes me i just get my squeeze bottle of water... wet the tissue under the baking paper. and off i go. they are all in A4 clear folders from kmart. so they stack and will stay wet for days if i need them too (though i find the paint consistency deteriorates sometimes, especially with ultramarine blue). then when i want to paint its a quick affair to squeeze out some paint and lid shut for a break. Also if i run out of space i dont need to clean up i just open the next folder read to go.
Then i just batch clean them i keep the paper bits.. because one day i have plans to paper a wall in all the dead wet palatte bits. lol.
This way the prep and set up is never a reason for me not to paint and i can take my palette (granted carefully) somewhere else and keep going.
This method was a game changer for me for the same reason. not wanting to set up and clean up. :-)
I found it! I was scrolling through horror category so I remembered lol. It was this. A film from 1971, so you weren't far from the year it was made. :D
Ah yeah I only have a tray with no air tight lid, and the temporary lid only extends it for 48h maybe. I agree with the paint consistency though, if I let it stay there for too long they become too runny and I wouldn't want it on my paper sketchbook. XD I definitely need to buy an air tight lid. That's pretty smart tho, clean them all at the same time! :D
I recently just started putting my wet gouache from the tube to watercolor pans (empty palette) and dry them just so I could just use that when I'm lazy. Acrylics and gouache are so different tho so will need a learning curve for it but still good for days when I just want a quick paint.
you can use anything. i used to use, you know pencil tins? so a metal tin that pencils come in. they rust abit EVENTUALLY so i switched to these plastic stationary cases. They were like 2 dollars each. a roll of baking paper from the kitchen and plain coloured paper towel under. basically like 10 dollars of material for endless wet pallettes. i also got a $1 squeeze bottle for the water so i just squeeze it in there.
You can see these are jusr A4 paper cases. they are thin and stack great. easy to clean. fairly big.
if you don't want them TOOOO wet. you just crank the lid open a little big so SOME air flow.
Here you can see i just stack them up.

Ah that is what you meant! I was imagining the same thing but way thicker, but I also wasn't sure if it's gonna keep the air out. That's genius! XD Thanks for the advice, I should go ahead and do the same thing but maybe buy a new one or cheaper since what i have is very thick. That's so awesome lol
yeah, they are awesome. they will hold wet for days. in fact i think i have had one stay wet for weeks. but like i said the quality of the paint can deteriorate a bit if too much water seeps into the paint. they become too liquid.if you crank the lid open by 4mm or so (jam a thin paintbrush or pencil in the gap) that helps but you only get 48 hours or so. :-)
