Today I want to share with you the final step of the mandala I made last week. When drawing a mandala we can decide if we want to add color or just go over the lines with a black marker. I almost always prefer to add color to each space and this can be with paint, markers or colored pencils. This time I chose to use gouaches which are paints that are diluted with water, a little thicker than watercolors.
Materials:
-Gouache paint (red, sky blue, deep blue, violet and white).
-Fine brushes
Lo primero que hacemos es borrar un poco las líneas del dibujo que habíamos realizado previamente para que cuando pintemos no se noten tanto.
The first thing we do is to erase a little the lines of the drawing that we had previously made so that when we paint they are not so noticeable.
Este fue el resultado después de borrar. Me enfoqué sobre todo en las lineas de guía mas que en las lineas de contorno de las formas porque estas si las vamos a necesitar para el mandala.
This was the result after erasing. I focused mainly on the guide lines rather than on the contour lines of the shapes because we are going to need them for the mandala.
Esta es la paleta de colores que escogí. Te comparto la formula para mezclar los colores y obtener tonos parecidos.Teniendo todo listo ya podemos comenzar a pintar cada espacio. Ten en cuenta que hay segmentos muy pequeños para eso necesitaras utilizar el pincel mas fino que tengas y mucha concentración.
This is the color palette I chose. I share with you the formula to mix the colors and get similar tones. Having everything ready we can start painting each space. Keep in mind that there are very small segments for that you will need to use the finest brush you have and a lot of concentration.
Fui poco a poco rellenando cada espacio intercalando los colores claros y oscuros. Lo mas difícil fue realizar los espacios mas pequeños. Por eso les recomiendo que al dibujar el mandala piensen si van a rellenarlo con pintura para que recuerden hacer formas mas grandes donde puedan pasar el pincel sin problemas.
I filled each space little by little, interspersing the light and dark colors. The most difficult part was to make the smaller spaces. That's why I recommend that when you draw the mandala think about whether you are going to fill it with paint so that you remember to make larger shapes where you can pass the brush without problems.
Después de dos días de trabajo este fue el resultado. Creo que me tarde tanto por todos los detalles que tenía el diseño. Lo importante es que lo disfruté bastante. Me gustó mucho ir pensando como podía alternar los colores para que siempre resaltaran.
After two days of work this was the result. I think it took me so long because of all the details that the design had. The important thing is that I enjoyed it a lot. I really liked thinking about how I could alternate the colors so that they would always stand out.

¡Te quedó genial! Investigué acerca de las pinturas porque no reconocí el término, también se les dicen a este tipo "témperas" (así sí pude saber qué era) y son más fáciles de trabajar que las acuarelas porque éstas se humedecen mucho o quedan muy secas y no permiten hacer bien los trazos, pero a ti te ha quedado espectacular con el gouache. Los tonos son realmente lindos, ¡felicidades!
