Another weekend, another illustration. This time of some playful boots in a slightly exaggerated focal angle simulating a wide angle in order to play with perspective. We also added volume with the braids floating around.
Here's the process:
Otro fin de semana, otra ilustración. Esta vez de unas botas juguetonas en un angulo focal un poco exagerado simulando un gran angular para poder jugar con la perspectiva. Además le agregamos volumen con las trenzas flotando alrededor.
Aquí va el proceso:
We usually do the illustrations in three stages:
- Autodesk Sketchbook Pro
-Delineated: Adobe Illustrator CC
-Color: Adobe Photoshop CC
We start with a quick sketch to define the shapes and basic position of our bra, the boots in this case. The basic outline and pre-delimination is also done in Sketchbook Pro.
Generalmente hacemos las ilustraciones en 3 etapas:
- Bocetaje: Autodesk Sketchbook Pro
-Delineado: Adobe Illustrator CC
-Color: Adobe Photoshop CC
Empezamos con el bocetaje rápido para definir formas y posición básica de nuestro sujero, las botas en este caso. El delineado básico y pre-eliminar tambien lo hacemos en Sketchbook Pro.
Then we have a good time figuring out the right way and position for each turn of the braids until we achieve the position and effect we want.
Luego pasamos un buen rato deduciendo el camino y posición adecuada de cada giro de las trenzas hasta lograr la posición y efecto que queríamos.
We added stitching details, texture on the sole, shadows on the inside of the boots and color on the seams of the sole and also the yellow braids because they are the most interesting and dynamic focal point of the whole illustration. When we finish all the pre-delineation we pass the illustration to Illustrator to make a quick image tracing, this converts the lines into vectorial traces without losing too much shape in the original lines.
Agregamos detalles de costuras, textura en la suela, sombras en las parte interior de las botas y color en las costuras de la suela y también las trenzas amarillas porque son el punto focal más interesante y dinámico de toda la ilustración. Al terminar todo el delineado pre-eliminar pasamos la ilustración a Illustrator para hacer un calco de imágen rápido, esto convierte las líneas en trazos vectoriales sin perder demasiada forma en las líneas originales.
After cleaning all the vectors in Illustrator we export the illustration in PNG and open it in Photoshop to finish everything. When we added the background we realized that the illustration still looked a little flat regarding what we wanted to achieve so we added depth with shadows and some texture.
Luego de limpiar todos los vectores en illustrator exportamos la ilustración en PNG y abrimos en Photoshop para terminar todo. Al agregar el fondo nos dimos cuenta que la ilustración aun se veía un poco plana respecto a lo que queríamos lograr asi que agregamos profundidad con sombras y algo de textura.
We also supplemented the boots with the same kind of texture on three levels, a shade that helped a lot to achieve the effect that the boots and braids are floating.
También complementamos las botas con el mismo tipo de textura en tres niveles, de sombra que ayudó muchisimo a lograre se efecto en que las botas y trenzas estan flotando.
This is the final result and with some more details that we liked very much.
Esta es el resultado final y con algunos detalles más que nos gustaron mucho.
