In my childhood I lived in a "vila" near downtown in Rio, With my mom, grandparents and uncles. My parents had got divorced when I was 3, so I dont really remember living with my dad in the early years of life. Where I did all that ordinary stuff that kids do in Brazil: play soccer, hide and seek, flying kites, play with marbles, etc.

The things really started to change when I was around 14 years old and moved to the USA to lived with my dad who was there for 3 years already, to go to High School, I lived the the city of Naples Florida for 4 years. I had some brazilian teenagers friend overthere, but as you will see, since then I started to do a bunch of different things, so I would get along with all kinds of diferent people, from the magic and comic geeks, to the popular football players.

As a brazilian, you might think, I should be a great soccer players, but that was never the truth, I am really bad at it. At my first year of high school I tried to join the junior soccer team but didn´t make even the first cut, but that openned a window that I would never imagine, the coach saw that I was really fast, and after taking me off, he took me to meet the junior football team´s coach, and told him that he could might use me. So I learned football and played as wide receiver for 3 high school seasons.

sorry I dont have any pictures of that time

Between school and practice, I started to play Magic: The Gathering with some guys during break. I had learned the game back in Brazil but didnt hook up it it till then. And started after a while to go to tournaments in a local store. In a short time I realized that I could get really good at it, and started to invest much more time with magic more than anything else.

besides Magic and football, my time in the USA was about the same as every other teenager, dating, a partime job, school and so.

When I got back to Brazil, which I comeback because I didn´t really get along with my dad, I first looked to my friends that got me into knowing Magic, and got to know that they sad stopped to play the game, but they new stores and places that I could find people to play and tournaments to go. And since that football was not a thing in Brazil back then, I had to find some other things to do for phisycal exercises, that was when I learned to dance, I had a childhood friend that was really good and wanted to start a company and I went along with him.

At that time I had a lot of joy and fun, met a bunch of nice people, did dance performances allover the city. Was a really great time. But them, my stepfather got a job in another city, and I had to move along to the city of Itaguai, I didnt quit dancing all of the sudden and on days that we had performances I´d crash in a friends house, but going to practice in week days got harder and harder, as well I started to meet new people in the new town, and the will to go to Rio was getting shorter and shorter. so I started to....

singing.jpg

yeah to sing! I had this rock band, and we did cover of a lot different bands as well some songs of our on written by the second voice and head guitar. on that pic we where singing "I miss you" from Blink 182 in a concert in the city´s theater( yeah we where really known in the city back then, we even got concerts of our on).

But I never really stopped to dance I found this incredible arcade that could fill my needs.

Pump it up!

I had a girlfriend back then, that had a pool house, and we would do all of the sort parties to gather with friend, drink and have fun.

And as you can imagine I never stopped to play magic, I found some people in the city that played, and after sometime playing together, they started to see interest in playing tournaments, so we build a practicing team.

and started to heavily go to IRL tournaments.

I have been playing Magic: the gathering for 25 years now, if we count it from the moment that I learn. Between real life, where I had made a lot of ptq´s top 8s, won a bunch of diferent levels of tournaments, Magic Online, where I grinded out for 10 years, making my livings out of it, and less often Magic Arena.

Apart Magic, I played a lot of others cardgames, Hearthstone, Eternal, PokemonTCG, Shadowverse, just to name a few. And although not as a profession I had some success on them, making top of ladders, winning small tournaments, etc.

I lived in Itaguai from 2003 to 2008, then my parents bought an apartment in Rio, and we we moved back, but it was in a neighbor in the far end of Rio, so I was only 20 minutes away from Itaguai, so I was still there a lot, but started to go more near Rio downtown to crash in a magic player friend´s house on the weekends.

Some of my crew in Itaguai quitted playing since I wasn´t much there too often to insentivate them so they moved along, but the friendship never ended and we stay in touch nowadays.

Some of those party friend that I mentioned learned about a game and started to play it, they even build a team, and so I started to go to Itaguai again a lot more!

RUGBY!

And you now might think " how about carnaval? you are from Rio de Janeiro, and don´t like carnaval, how come?"
That´s where you got it all wrong baby, I just didn´t mention before. I learned to play carnaval drums a couple years before moving to the US with my stepfather, and played in my first parade in 2004. played 2005 and 2006, and only got back in 2014 which I got some picture of rehearsals for the big thing

Nowadays I work as a nightshift auditor in a Hotel, after stop playing magic the gathering as a living. I enjoy cooking and do it regularly, almost everyday to be sincere. sometimes I even do some fancy stuff.

I just go into this whole crypto world and still trying to figure out a bunch of stuff. Searching for some new games to play, I found this discord server where I made this new portuguese friend @feanorgu that asked me if I liked to write and told me about this amazing place. Even though I do like writing I´m not really good at it.

hope you enjoy it, and if you want to know me better , meet me in the restaurant at the end of the universe. Thx for all the fish!

Lol. Yeah it’s been a while. Been here for 3 1/2 years roughly. I do own a comic and toy shop so I e d up writing about nerdy shit most of the time.

As for Magic comics, yeah Boom Studios puts it out now. I have no idea if it’s any good or not. Lol.

You a comic fan?

I kindda like the comics world, but not used to read it. My son since learned he learned to read loves it. MY wife also likes it. I´m more of a book guy. But you know, that nerdy life we got to love those things.

Hey man…reading is reading. I enjoy books as well to be honest I rarely read comic anymore as time doesn’t allow it currently. One day I hope to dive back into regular comic reading like my early days.
