Banksy street artist - who are you?

We all know Banksy, an English artist and writer from Bristol. Personally, I really appreciate his art of social denunciation which often concerns politics, war and ethics. I recently saw a beautiful, very large exhibition on Banksy and I had posted a first article about it: Banksy in Rome - first part

Banksy, in the Bristol underground scene, claimed to have been inspired by 3D aka Robert Del Naja founding member of Massive Attack, so the hypothesis is that he is the famous writer. The other hypothesis is that it is Robin Gunningham, a student at Bristol Cathedral Choir School, as reported by a survey carried out by Queen Mary, University of London, who has traced the so-called Geographic profiling.

But the videos and numerous photographs (including professional ones) of the live performance in Venice show that all the installers on the scene do not resemble Robert Del Naja, much less Robin.

Today I want to focus on the mysterious identity of the English artist and for this reason I also share some cd covers and one in particular by Blur.

From Blur to Damon Alborn, the frontman of the band and ending up with Gorillaz founded by Damon Alborn and Jamie Hewlett, a fantastic journey of two bands that I love!

Why could Jamie Hewlett be Banksy?

Here too we enter the field of hypotheses: a forensic expert who wants to remain anonymous, says he has followed all the financial flows of Banksy and states that the proceeds all go to companies where the name of J. Hewlett appears. The forensic reiterates that he took the data from Companies House, a site that records and shares information of companies to the public.

Probably Banksy will not be able to keep his anonymity forever, but he will remain in the history of Graffiti forever.

A hug with spray and stencil.

The images of Banky's works that you will see were all taken on the street, many in West Bank.

I have occasionally wondered if there is really just one Banksy... or if it is a collaboration..... or if some of it is random strangers who let their work be attributed to Banksy. In that nature, it would be more of a collective idea, instead of a one-man show.

I think that is one of the beauties of it though. If it makes people wonder about it in any way, it means someone is focusing on it. What else could an artist or an ideal ask for?

Some think it could be a team of artists united by the PEST brand, and I think so too. Banksy started alone over 20 years ago and now has one or two collaborators. Thank you for comment.

Mysterious Banksy! I actually like to not know about his true identity, it's great that some things just remain a mystery. Like the deep sea or the nature of the universe.
And in Banksy's case it doesn't really matter who makes the art. It's the art itself that is important and has an impact on the people.

Great artist, what differentiates him from the others is his peculiar style, his works show truths through humor and sarcasm and the fact that his identity is hidden gives him a little more interest.

Yes, and the fact that he could have founded Gorillaz as well as Blur intrigues me even more.

Great art work 👌

Forte!
