Sometimes it is okay NOT to be okay!

With the current situation in our country and actually all over the world most of us have learned to put on a mask.(literally and figuratively.) By putting on a mask we have also learned how to hide our emotions and feelings. No one really knows what goes on behind the mask.

We mostly just keep our emotions to ourselves.  We don't want to look
weak in front of others. This changes when we watch a sad movie. During a sad movie we need tissues right!

It is so funny that we can show emotions in a movie but not in real life.

We are taught from a very young age to keep our emotions to ourselves so that we don't embarrass ourselves in front of others. Even if a child gets hurt, and we want them to stop crying we have all these terms that we use to make them stop.

Ever heard the phrase "cowboys don't cry?"

We need to be strong because when we show our emotions we also show just how vulnerable we are.

I have seen and have experience what a good cry can do for you! If I am very tense, I find a sad movie and I cry my heart out. Guess what? After the good cry I feel so much better about life. Let me explain what happens in your body after a good long cry.

These tears are called emotional tears, and they are one of three types of tears that our body produces. It is possible that criers feel better because crying has also been shown to cause the release of endorphins our body's natural pain killer thus making us feel better.

So if life takes a bad turn and you have some built up stress, don't hold it in. You don't have to make a spectacle of yourself because you are scared to be embarrassed, just watch a sad movie, cry a little or A LOT and it should make you feel better!

Overall we just need to know that sometimes it is okay NOT to be okay. People tend to pretend that they are very strong but underneath if you dig a little, you will find out that they are just the same as you. We are all part of this big human race just trying to survive and get to the other side.
