Mystical garden - Watercolor with traces of Nightwish and a touch of a candle flame

A serious case of color cravings in time for trying out brand new, liquid watercolors gifted at Christmas. I sat down with the garden in my mind and stared at the blank sheet of paper in hesitation. Blank sheets can be quite frightening at first. Then you breathe out the anxiety, put the headphones on and hit play, think of the color, and add water to it. As the color-filled brush hits the paper, you promise yourself to take it slow since being impatient and rushing can often lead to failure.

What is the plan? It’s a water
color doodle. There is none, as the garden gently reveals itself in cloudlike softness and you are lost in realms of musical notes, joyfully dancing around in between, or twirling the golden locks in your fingers released from the bun only to make a new bun or a braid while waiting for the paper to dry and deciding where to strike next. To add to the creative madness you sometimes stand up on your chair and stare at it from a distance, then dive into it and hover only a few centimeters above. You spin it around too, to see it from every angle like a mad scientist.

After hours have passed you don’t even notice how tired you are or hungry, or that outside a new day is starting. Your table is covered with napkins, brushes, tools, color tubes, jars of water, all in perfect creative chaos around you. You giggle that the tornado has struck again. But then, you realize you have made a mistake. Somewhere along the lines, you have gotten the red paint on your sleeve and it has left a stain on the corner. It ruins it for you and there is no fixing it until you decide to burn it off! Burn all the edges off! Trial by fire, how fitting! Be gone the ugly, abomination of a corner from hell!

Finally, you decide you wish for more color and add tiny colorful specs all over the thing, and call it the day. Time to fix the damn sleeping schedule or never-ending struggle of a bat! Bwaaah! Sunlight! Too bright, get it off me!

Liquid watercolors by Royal Talens from the Netherlands - were blending really well and overall easy to work with

Dried color inspiration in the jar - herbal tea, collected from the meadows and my tiny garden. If only I could include the scent in the images!

A bit of a process, before the unfortunate corner struck

Strangely my creativity usually strikes at night. What about you?

Songs of the day:

Nightwish - Ghost Love Score - Remastered; Dua Lipa - Physical; Mazzy Star - Into Dust;

Emmmm! A painting!!! I love it! It's been so long... it is always one of my greatest joys to see that you have painted again. Such a beautiful garden, too!

You know? I like the burning around the edges. It gives a dreamier feel to it; a bit like in a movie or comic when a character is dreaming and the edges are a bit hazy and unclear. That is what this feels like, looking at it... as if this garden is some kind of dream of the future.

Painting seems so unforgiving; so permanent, in comparison to the ways I create. When I code, or when I write... mistakes like that corner are mostly inconsequential. Other than accidentally deleting data or losing hours of progress somehow, there is no real ability for an absent-minded misstep to ruin a project. Painting, or almost any art form using physical media, is so different in that regard. Hours and days of work can be scarred by one tiny mistake... and yet I see that mistakes can also create opportunities. It takes confidence and a special quality of brilliance to spot them and seize them; clearly, you have it.

It's inspiring to read about the process, too, you know... the creative tornado, the standing on the chair, the musical immersion, the bat schedule and oh, it's morning? Well, those last bits sound familiar at least! xD It's so cool to imagine you in that creative world of your own where everything else around fades into the background. I wonder how it feels to be you, in that place.

Amazing work. Really. The world gets a bit brighter every time you create 💛

Looking great M!

I love the burnt edges. That takes guts and balls. Writers edit, delete but you burn. Those burns will add character, a perception of you to the story within the paint

There isn't a lot of predictability when working with the element hard to control, yet fun experimentation and quite satisfying result, I must say. Agreed, it definitely adds to the character :)

Really Nice Work!!!
The steps were also very interesting,
Thanks For Posting!

Hey @lesmann! Thank you for visiting my blog and so glad you found something that sparked your interest :) For me the creating process is part of the fun you know, not just the end result :)

This is beautiful! I was instantly reminded of coral when I saw the purple parts. I love the mellow color palette. The sprinkles also give the piece a magical feeling. Thank you for sharing.

I would suggest turning up the brightness on the images up a bit because they look dark - but I know that's just more work, though.

Keep the magic rolling! :)

Thank you for stopping by @doodle.danga! Cool username btw ^^

Ah yea, might be a bit darker. I try to use as much of natural lighting as possible when I take my photos so sometimes I just wait for a brighter day with some sunshine to take them, but I get what you are saying :)

Not really my first watercolor, no. But I discovered that I loved them just recently, couple of years ago, maybe a bit more. You know how sometimes at school kids are asked to paint with watercolors? Yet the paper is wrong or colors are shitty quality, I never liked them as a kid, but only now learning bit by bit the importance of good quality paper suited for watercolors making all the difference and so on.

btw.. is this your first watercolor painting? If it is, it's great.

Thank you Myst!

Omgosh!.. I think the same happened to me! It wasn't until I tried watercolor waaaay later when studying graphic design that I found out about the paper quality, which really makes a difference when absorbing it. Layers look beautiful! Have you tried gouache paint? It turned my world upside down when I did! It's basically like opaque watercolors, so you can paint brights over darks when undiluted. Sweet stuff! :) I definitely need more paint in my life! I've drawn way too much over the years, now I need color!! :D Your work is inspiring ;)

I've been away from steemit for a while now, and checking back to see if I can dip back in. It's
hard to invest a lot of time here when you are starting because you get so little back.. you know.. the money/time deal.. I didn't have a job back then and I still don't, so I'll see how that goes. Honestly, I'm personally inconsistent.. I love too many things to focus! I'm all over the place :/ I also see there's some new stuff around, so I'll have to check that out :P :) When I started I was very excited and worked intensely (burned out) like for like 3 months. I didn't feel like I moved forward - but I know I did, though. I hosted a coloring contest for a few weeks and it had 14 participants the last time. I think that was cool.. But I needed money urgently. Perhaps I can host the contest again soon. Will see :)

It looks good, too beautiful, you have a voracious talent, keep it up and may
your wits attack you every night of every day

Wow this is some good stuff

Thank you so much @kingtee-rex! I had a lot of fun making this one :)

You're welcome

The lavender looks great :)
Did the paint ruin your top?

Believe it or not it was at the bottom, my trying to fix it messed it up even more and then I thought why the fuck I just didn't leave the red there and added more color all over like with the specs, but it was already too late so I improvised with fire

Burning the red paint off your sleeve, is quite a fashion statement :>) You might start a trend.

You are giving me ideas! I will call my company Byfire! All items will be uniquely burned and one of the kind :D I will even borrow the flame thrower from Elon for a special line ahaha!

Ooooo… 'Byfire' would be a great name for the clothing line :>)
If you borrow Elon's flame thrower, he'll probably want a percentage of profit.

Really cute! I especially love the trees in the background, the sky and the rosy little bushes in the front. ^^

Thank you @kristves! ^^ Ah you know the trees are one of my favorite bits too, after I painted the first one I was fascinated by the effect water created. Like it melted the color to the sides leaving interesting shapes :)

Art at its finest. I really like this art style, looks amazing!!

Aww thank you so much whacky! That's too kind. It was a blast to doodle with music in my ears though, I just get lost in the process and I love watching the paint making magic with a touch of water :)
