RE: My Introduction Post on Peakd

in OCD11 months ago

Welcome to Hive, @yugadi

Another nerd? That's what we were lacking on this platform lol (not exactly)

I liked your intro post and I hope your referrer told you these things but sadly they didn't tell you one of the most important tag 'introduceyourself' (which is just use once for introduction post and never again.

Anyways, tags are important and tagging just big curation accounts like ocdb, curie, quarto, appreciator and curangel won't get you their upvote. They have different criteria for doing so. I am a curator for one of the above mentioned community too and many others.

Keep sharing your side of the story and good luck with a new life in Germany. Sounds reall exciting. Have fun!

Hello!
Happy to be here.

Thank you for the tips. I'm still learning the ropes and all the help is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the tags, I've seen many posts with those tags so thought that it was the norm. But will look into it the next time.

Real excited for Germany too. Yay❤️

Unfortunately many people don't understand the proper use of tags.

Let me share something that helped me get a better hang of the tags. This was written by a dear soul "thekittygirl" in TheTerminal discord server. (Link at the bottom, if you want to join)

What are good tags to use in my posts?

The first tag can never be changed, so choose it carefully! Tags that mention the subject of the post are best for the first tag — travel, gardening, crypto, food, etc. Sometimes, two such "topic" tags are good, for instance: #food and sushi or recipes.

For posts that are in Spanish, use #spanish as one of the tags (although #english is NOT necessary for any post in English). Posts in German can be tagged #deutsch, and so forth.

After that, consider tagging any communities to which you belong such as #hiveph for those who live in Philippines and #wafrica for folks in West Africa; there may, or may not, be a community for your geographical area. There are also many communities on Discord which you can tag if you are in those communities (#ladiesofhive, #naturalmedicine, and others).

Other good tags would include Tribes and Communities, which will give your post more exposure, such as #palnet and #neoxian, which will accept content on any subject. IF your post relates to investing, you can use #leofinance. IF your post is of a creative nature (art, music, sculpting, dance, poetry, writing, etc.), you can use the #creativecoin tag, but only if the post is of a creative nature! For any post that talks about the things that define who you are, you can always use #innerblocks as a tag. If your post is inspirational, thoughtful, or encouraging in nature, WesPhilbin's #thoughtfuldaillypost is a good tag.

Ensure, though, that your tags are relevant to the topic of the post. Tagging unrelated topics is "tag abuse," the same as when someone uses the tag #travel on a post about cooking, or #recipes on a post about investing, etc. Always use relevant tags!

I will leave a link to the discord server, if you want to learn more about such things related to the platform.

Omg thank you!

This explanation makes so much sense and I guess I understand the whole tags business now.

I appreciate the time you have taken to give me all these details. It's really helpful.

I have joined the discord server as well.
