Okay where do we begin? Writing my own introduction is quite a daunting task. It's funny how I am the one person I spend the most amount of time with and yet when asked "Tell me about yourself", I am stumped. It may be because everyone wants to leave an impression and doesn't want to give a boring introduction.
So here's to a not-so-boring one and a start of something new. I discovered this platform thanks to a friend of mine, who has been here for quite some time now. I was intrigued by the idea of being able to channel my love for writing while sharing some bits of my life with the world.

Now let me properly introduce myself. I'm a 23 year old, soon to be 24 and soon to be unemployed as well. But trust me, I will be the happiest unemployed person ever because I am moving to Germany soon! Yay me. I'm definitely not a morning person, very nocturnal. Beaches over mountains, because I have very low cold tolerance. Coffee over Tea but not a person who needs it to function.
Hmm....... what else? The title of being a "nerd" has been lovingly bestowed upon me by my friends and I cannot really deny it. I certainly am a science geek and love everything biology. Predictably, I pursued my studies in the field of Science, more specifically Biotechnology and got my bachelor's degree. I graduated in 2023 from PA college of Engineering, Manglore. I have been working as a 'Research Analyst' in Chennai since then.

Here's me finally getting graduated 🎓

A recent experience that cemented my love for life sciences was my internship at the Serum Institute of India. It was amazing to be able to learn at such a prestigious organization, even if it was for a short time. It was at Serum that I got to perform a plethora of experiments practically and apply whatever theoretical knowledge I had gained during the course of my Bachelor's education. The guides there were incredibly approachable and passionate about sharing the work they were doing.

I completed my schooling till 10th in my hometown and moved away for my higher education after that. I'm not a stranger to living on my own and this has greatly shaped me to be independent and resilient. I have loved my life in the different towns and cities that I've lived in but homemade food is something that I miss the most. Like every typical teenager I preferred eating at restaurants and disliked home cooked meals. But that changed completely once I moved away from home. Now, I would give anything to have the simple everyday food my mom prepares
Speaking of my mom, she has been my biggest support system ever. Our relationship got rocky when I was in my highschool with constant fights and disagreements(puberty, am I right!) but we were able to improve it quickly. Today, I’m proud to say we’re closer than ever, with a bond that feels more like friendship than a traditional mother-daughter dynamic.

My dad and I have always been close, thanks to our shared interests. I love our conversations and am constantly impressed by his intellect and worldly knowledge. Between the two of them, I truly lucked out. They’ve always been my biggest cheerleaders, supporting my dreams and going out of their way to ensure I have the best opportunities in life.
Okay before I get homesick and teary-eyed, let's move on.
One thing that anyone who knows me will tell you is that I love reading. I fell in love with books at a young age and this fire was well fanned by my dad who took extreme delight in buying me books, taking me to libraries , reading me stories and so on. Like the nerd that i am, skipping classes in school for me entailed visiting the library and getting lost there.

My favourite genres include Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Mystery and thrillers. Naturally, being a die hard reader, I delved into writing as well. From writing short plays in school, to magazine articles in college, to heartbreak poems scribbled in the long hours of night, writing has always felt cathartic.

When my friend told me that there are book clubs in Peakd that I could join, I was solddddd. There was a time when I wrote detailed book reviews on GoodReads and also started an Instagram page. But, I haven't written one in quite some time now and maybe joining book clubs here would finally push me to get back to that. I recently finished reading 500 books (proud achievement), atleast according to my Goodreads but I'm sure the number is way higher as i discovered the app much later.

Another one of my hobbies growing up was dancing. Although I never aspired to be a professional dancer, I never miss a chance to dance. And if I do say so myself, I’m a pretty decent dancer. I have spent hours infront of the tv tuned into channels like "9XM" and "VH1" practicing the music video steps and pretending to be a movie star. Dancing is my way of expressing joy and letting loose regardless whatevers going on in life.

Basically, I'm a read-a-book-by-myself person during the day and lets-set-the-club-on-fire person by night. And in between, I'm someone who dreams biggggg, works hard (with a little procrastination of course) and is ambitious to the core.
I'll be using this blog to share a few aspects of my life as I sail through it. Looking forward to documenting my days in Germany in a few months, as I pursue my Masters.
That is all about me, for now. Before I wrap up, a big shoutout to @bighungrypanda for introducing and referring me to this cool platform and helping me navigate its workings!

Welcome to Hive, @yugadi
Another nerd? That's what we were lacking on this platform lol (not exactly)
I liked your intro post and I hope your referrer told you these things but sadly they didn't tell you one of the most important tag 'introduceyourself' (which is just use once for introduction post and never again.
Anyways, tags are important and tagging just big curation accounts like ocdb, curie, quarto, appreciator and curangel won't get you their upvote. They have different criteria for doing so. I am a curator for one of the above mentioned community too and many others.
Keep sharing your side of the story and good luck with a new life in Germany. Sounds reall exciting. Have fun!

Hello!
Happy to be here.
Thank you for the tips. I'm still learning the ropes and all the help is greatly appreciated.
Regarding the tags, I've seen many posts with those tags so thought that it was the norm. But will look into it the next time.
Real excited for Germany too. Yay❤️
Unfortunately many people don't understand the proper use of tags.
Let me share something that helped me get a better hang of the tags. This was written by a dear soul "thekittygirl" in TheTerminal discord server. (Link at the bottom, if you want to join)
What are good tags to use in my posts? The first tag can never be changed, so choose it carefully! Tags that mention the subject of the post are best for the first tag — travel, gardening, crypto, food, etc. Sometimes, two such "topic" tags are good, for instance: #food and sushi or recipes.
For posts that are in Spanish, use #spanish as one of the tags (although #english is NOT necessary for any post in English). Posts in German can be tagged #deutsch, and so forth.
After that, consider tagging any communities to which you belong such as #hiveph for those who live in Philippines and #wafrica for folks in West Africa; there may, or may not, be a community for your geographical area. There are also many communities on Discord which you can tag if you are in those communities (#ladiesofhive, #naturalmedicine, and others).
Other good tags would include Tribes and Communities, which will give your post more exposure, such as #palnet and #neoxian, which will accept content on any subject. IF your post relates to investing, you can use #leofinance. IF your post is of a creative nature (art, music, sculpting, dance, poetry, writing, etc.), you can use the #creativecoin tag, but only if the post is of a creative nature! For any post that talks about the things that define who you are, you can always use #innerblocks as a tag. If your post is inspirational, thoughtful, or encouraging in nature, WesPhilbin's #thoughtfuldaillypost is a good tag.
Ensure, though, that your tags are relevant to the topic of the post. Tagging unrelated topics is "tag abuse," the same as when someone uses the tag #travel on a post about cooking, or #recipes on a post about investing, etc. Always use relevant tags!
I will leave a link to the discord server, if you want to learn more about such things related to the platform.

Omg thank you!
This explanation makes so much sense and I guess I understand the whole tags business now.
I appreciate the time you have taken to give me all these details. It's really helpful.
I have joined the discord server as well.
