If you are asked - when did science start? Through whom?
Calculations show that Thales E was the first to start thinking scientifically. Think about it, at that time all the thoughts of the human world were centered on divine power and relied on myths. They had no curiosity about anything, nor any knowledge about nature.
Thelis was born about 6th and 7th centuries BC in a kingdom called Miletus in Greece, in present-day Turkey. He was the first to use observations and experiments to explain natural things. He thought about mathematics and astronomy. He introduced philosophy, and founded the School of Philosophy. He was the first to say that everything is made of a basic substance that is water. He thought the earth was flat and floating on something. Although these explanations were not accurate, their scientific thinking can be inferred from them. He was able to find out the height of the pyramid by proportioning his shadow to the shadow of the pyramid. He provided 5 theorems in geometry. Subsequent lunar eclipses were accurately estimated using his explanation.
His interpretations and mathematical thinking inspired Pythagoras, and Pythagoras' works influenced the work of both Plato and Aristotle. Thelis was one of the seven people known in ancient Greece as the Wise man of antiquity.
Pretty crazy to think of a time so long ago. Challenging to take it without a grain of salt. Too much has been rewritten over time or forgotten.
