RE: Lockdown reading: Book four

It's got to take a special breed of person to be a sniper. Besides having the ability to hit a target at such long distances, you have to almost be void of emotions as you scope in the target and fire a kill shot, all happening without the other person knowing it's coming.
You would think it would be easier to kill while physically being confronted.
During the time Billy and Abdul the Terrible were looking for each other, each man had to be on a constant adrenaline high, knowing that if they let their guard down for even a second, they would end up in a pine box. I'm sure neither man slept much during their hunt for each other.
Love the gun, and with the bayonet attached to it, its got to be one scary looking weapon.

Back then without decent scopes it would possibly have been easier as one would be a little detached from the end result...Through a scope it's amazing how much detail one sees. I went culling tonight and my longest shot was 680m...Still, I saw every detail of it, the animal drop etc. For most people killing anything isn't the easiest thing.

I often shoot long range as you may know, I compete around the country in practical competitions also...But to do all that in a battlefield situation...Yeah, a rare breed. They're as much shooters as surveillance and intel-gatherers now though. Back in Billy's day that just banged away on the long gun all day long...Rare breed of bloke for sure.
