Chocolate beetle! This is of course often found in every green plant area or often seen in every location of empty land that grows in wild plants, in general, empty land that has been overgrown with wild plants has long been abandoned by the owner or unmanaged land is left
This means that this brown beetle is indeed on the land mentioned above, but why is it suddenly surprising that it is in a residential area that has no ornamental plants or flowers.
What are they looking for, or what is it with the host plant that it is in an area that has no wild plants as its territory?
When I saw an unusual phenomenon that occurs in this beetle, I have read on a certain blog and in every post of friends on this hive platform, about the characteristics of beetles that urbanize from one location to another.
It is said that, of course, have a cause and effect for the condition of this brown beetle in residential areas that do not have wild plants or others. This is caused by two factors, namely:
- At the initial location (the host plant) something has happened that could harm the beetle's own body
- Was carried away by something about his body whether human or the influence of nature itself.
These two factors often affect the movement of insect or other animal species from one location to another.
1. Something has happened at the initial location (host plant)
Often occurs in animal life in our area to move or it can be said to be a location shift, as well as every insect species, they also often do it.
Population relocation or what is known as urbanization, everyone is familiar with the meaning of moving people from villages to cities, this is because the area of origin does not have anything needed or the initial location has been hit by a natural disaster that makes the host plant in a dangerous condition. In general something has happened, such as:
- Forest fire or fire at its initial location
- The initial location is no longer available for food or drought
That is if the number of those who have urbanized is large. Because in this case animal instincts are very accurate if something happens in their area, they will move locations looking for new locations.
When I see the presence of these brown beetles is small or I only find 1 while the others are not visible, it can be ascertained that they are not moving locations or urbanizing in the sense that they are carried away by something so that they are in another area (resident's house). This incident might have happened because of being accidentally carried by humans or natural impacts such as a strong wind or it was caught with a wooden leaf and the leaves were blown away.
2. Carried by the wind or carried by humans
Then the second thing happened in this situation, it was also influenced by several reasons such as being carried away by the wind or the children who often caught it and then it was released in the residential area or it was released from the children's hands so that it was carried away by the wind or flying to the location of the villagers' houses.
In this case, to be sure it can also be indicated by the number of their presence, if the number reaches 10 to 20 then the wind takes them in the sense that strong winds carrying wooden leaves coincidentally the brown beetle is on the branch.
However, if there is only one tail, as I have seen, there is no element of deliberately urbanizing on the beetle's journey itself, in the sense that it is carried by the child who catches it to play, then the beetle is released from the child's grip.
But pity is also for him far from the location of his nest, and it is feared that he will die because he does not have food to supply nutrients in his body.
I myself also don't understand the food, whether they eat leaves or there are other things they can eat.
Finally I personally caught him and then I left them at a resident's house that had flowers in pots, hopefully he would feel at home in his new area in adjusting himself to that area. Thank you very much.
