Hello all. It has been awhile since I have had the time and motivation to write here on Hive. Anyways let me tell share with one of my favorite things to do in spring. Could it be spring cleaning or lawn work? No, but i have done those things and there is more work to be had. Well you know what it is because you already seen the photo collage above. Fishing, fishing and fishing no surprises. I haven't documented all the times I went out since early March but it has been a little more than a handful of times.

My first few times out were to target some rainbow trout. The very first time I fished a mostly frozen pond. I didn't have any luck that day. But in between crazy back and forth weather like snow storms and summer like temperatures I made a few more trout trips. In all I kept 16 rainbow trouts. Twice I caught my limit of five and did it rather quickly. The last time I targeted some trout I took my son out with me. That day was cold and really windy. We had to cast in between the gusts of winds. Maybe the line got out 20 feet and was quickly back to us in no time at all. Cold hands and feet limited us to about 20 minutes of fishing. We each caught one fish. He caught a small large mouth bass and I caught a smaller crappie. We had time so we got some breakfast together after our short stint of fishing. Next time hopeful a bit longer of fishing together.

This past Thursday I went to a customer appreciation event at the local base purchasing store. I picked up some free stuff at some of the vendors and got some free filipino food. The store manager is a filpina hence the delicious cuisine. Anyways I bring this up because one of the free things I got was a hat. I broke it in Sunday and it produced some fish! The hat has grown on me and I rather like it. The subject matter is simple it simply says Massif. Massif is a company that makes some pretty good cold weather and flame resistance gear for the U.S. Military.
Sunday was a decent temperature day but the wind was insane. This was my first serious attempt at targeting some good old panfish. I fished twice this day once in the morning and again late in the afternoon into the early evening. I did quite well in the morning as I fished for a little over 3 hours. I did not catch my first fish until the 30 minute mark. Than It started with 5 straight good sized bluegills than I went on crappie surge. In all I kept 16 fish, well worth the trip. Throughout fishing the geese were active and I even seen a few turtles, just glad I didnt catch any turtles.

Well I decided to try my luck again. I arrived around 3:00 and left a little after 6:00. It wasnt until about 90 minute mark when I caught my first fish. I was pretty close to quiting until I felt a good sized fish which actually pulled some drag on my reel. Ok I'm using light gear it wasn't Moby Dick but a rather good sized fish for this location and particular fish species. It was a yellow bass that was probably all of 12 inches. Its about the max size for this species and these fish fight hard despite thier size. I than caught another 2 yellow bass than caught a mix of blue gills and crappies. I ended up catching 8 fish in total and I wish I could have stayed longer the bite was on. I had plans to eat some of the caught fish from earlier with a friend so i had to stop. I love eating fresh caught fish nothing beats eating fish like this. Well 24 fish kept for the day and I thought I'll go the next day. I should be able to just slay them, right?

Well sometimes when you have high expectations things don't turn out that way especially when it comes to fishing. I actually fished 4 bodies of water and only caught 6 fish in total. The first spot I went to I caught 3 but the wind ended up blowing a lot of algae muck where the fish were holding at so it made it near impossible to catch them. The second place I caught a ity bity blue gill and a rather small large mouth bass. The third place a small blue gill. The last place i fished was a rather larger creek I like the area and will return to it despite not catching anything. Was it maybe the hat 🤣? I did wear a different new hat, another i got from the event on Thursday. Just might have to retire this one early, haha. Well suppose to get some possible thunderstorms today (I think snow possibilities are finally done) I'm sure that will mess up the fish activity for a bit. Hopefully soon I will get out again. Hopefully be able to set a time with my son. That's really the best scenero doesn't necessarily matter how the fishing goes but to spend some time together.
Anybody else do any fishung recently or eat some fish? Lets here your experience. Anyways thats all I got for you. Take care, be safe and have a great day! Until next time!
You did well! Definitely, a much better place to be is the lake, river, or any other water, than doomscrolling all the shit on the Internet... 😂 Good to see that you had a lot of fun, and that you had nice catches...
Good old fishing superstitions... 😂 I have many of them, as any other fishermen... 😂
I didn't go fishing recently, but I did cook a fish stew in a traditional way at my parents' house for Easter... That was fun... :) Will edit this comment from my phone and share the photo...
Heres the finished product

Yummy! 🍴

Yes I caught some nice fish for the species I caught. I've already had 3 dinners out of it. Still plenty left yet.
A bad day of fishing is better than scrolling and wasting unproductive time on the internet. 😁
That way of cooking and eating some fish stew is really a way to make one feel accomplished. Im sure its tasty as well 😋 Im having noodles and fish tonight. A friend sent me a short video of it but I cant figure out how to post here.
If you are using Ecency for posting, you can upload a video through the post editor... The other way to do it is through https://3speak.tv/, but it will create a separate post, so pay attention to that...
There is no better meal than the one prepared with fish you caught yourself! 🍻

Yes I know what its like to be away from the sea. I'm a great ways away but luckily there are plenty of lakes, rivers, streams, ponds and creeks around. Still havent fished in the ocean but I think that will come to an end before long
You're lucky to live near the water Land yeah fishing on the ocean will be the great experience for you
You caught some nice fish those first days, but then you get those days that you can't catch anything good... That's fishing for you! Looks like you had a great time though!

Did you know that there's a fishing community on Hive? However, apart from you, I don't know any fisherman on Hive. Ablaze has a photo of himself fishing though, but dunno if he's fishing often.
There's a few of us. Its an activity that a few here really want to do but dont always have time to do. Than theres not everyone has a place nearby to do. The latter not me I dont know what the total number of places there are to fish at. Its probably a rather high number, no complaints Im very foranate.
BTW I thought of you fishing when I was giving both of these hats a try out. No straw one yet 🤣
😆😆😆 I keep telling you, I have to send you a straw hat. If shipping would not be so expensive, I would 😂

Hello @coolmidwestguy, friend, it’s a pleasure to greet you. The fishing improved as you gave yourself another shot. And it’s fantastic to see you and your son together in that. How’s basketball going? A hug—and put away the hat you think brings bad luck when fishing, hahaha…
Hello nice to here from you as wel. Yes good times and I can say I really needed all this. The hat is at home put away in a spot that I wont grab easily on the way out the door, haha. Yes son and I have been talking about going together again. Will be much better as the weather as started to be nicer. A big hug to you Amiga
