And it goes on and on and on this winter with snow filling the days here in the Netherlands. As I was writing before here in my previous post this is something that doesn't happen very often that snow is actually very decent, and now it has been snowing on and off for the last couple of days.
Sure the end it really starting to come in sight later on in the week, but tomorrow there should be more snow (and chaos going with that) coming and Friday also even still more.

And that leaves us heading out for awesome walks and views and really having me wonder if I have ever seen this already before here in the country in my memory going years and years back.

Heading for the walks
Dutchies as we are that means that still a lot of people are biking along to get to their destination even while the roads are frozen. For me that always seems like a not-so-fly choice as you can't really see what is under the initial layer of snow. And by now with all the freezing and defrosting and freezing and defrosting, well year...there is a lot of ice now everywhere.

For me tat means that for the most things I just take my time and walk towards wherever I need to be.
And also giving it a lot more thought on...'Okay should I be doing this specifically today, or could I also head there next week, when I am able to use my bike again'.
And honestly...half of the time the necessity of actually heading out wasn't really there.

Slowing down
It feels a bit when there is weather like this (especially when it actively snowing at that moment) that everything slows down for a bit. Sure traffic is slowing down, and in the current state here in the Netherlands that also means hardly a train is going and also most of the flights are cancelled at the major airport here.
But I mean like slowing down in the mind. Leaving out a bit of external factors in there like all the stuff I didn't really needed to do outdoors and all the places where I didn't really needed to be. Well actually that brings you to a super nice laid back kind of setting.

I have been reading in my book a lot while also staring outside. But I am also trying to finish my crochet sweater that I have been making over the last year which has been back on the shelf during summer time.
And just walking and walking and walking. The good thing about this is is that there is always an enthusiastic dog on my side ready to head outdoors with me to explore and bit and to see how everything is looking now again.

With the temperatures staying below zero it also means that the snow that just has fallen is staying in the trees which is the most lovely sight to see.
That feels like proper winter there as the snow is glued to the barches and every green leave has a dust of white over it for the contrast.
I can tell you now that actifit would be proud of me from all of that walking.

Now sure there are also a lot of downsides to all of this snow since a lot of also not functioning proper and also the hospitals are really busy at the moment with everyone falling over and breaking stuff.
So that will all be over next week..
But for now...I am still enjoying to the fullest!!
What a winter so far huh?
It has been a weird one in this slice of Canada 🇨🇦 when a premature snowfall has carried its way all the way through December and into the middle of winter!
We may just be in our Carlsberg years but I love the slowing down. We have walks with the dog as a common denominator. To think I get up and out once per day for an hour walk while giving the dog what he wants seems trivial. I try and leave my phone in the car and just raw-dog the outdoors as a daily reconnect to what is real.
Mindfulness and outdoor activity make for a great slow down.
That is the best with the silence of the snow. It always sounds like everything is cotton. Already looking forward walking tomorrow as blizzards are predicted and schools are closed.
So by you guys is also full winter modus? Yeahhh this year is totally different indeed!
Yep! We had our standard first snow late November but it didn't melt away this year. Stayed cold and kept on snowing right through December! I would rather it this way now but I find that makes for a damn long feeling winter once the end of Feb approaches.
Sublime. I want that much snow in here as well.
This is soooo different than anything else before and i love it! Tomorrow all Warnings are on and schools are closed even
The photos that you took look like handpicked postcards from some winter resort! I have to admit that sometimes I do miss snow, but I don't miss cold, that's for sure... lol... Speaking of cold, it's freezing in Spain too! We had 0 last night, which is probably the lowest temperature I felt here in the previous 13 years!
Btw. I even saw snow yesterday on top of the mountains while driving!
Keep walking and keep taking photos... Who knows when the next big snow will come!

Frost in Spain even? That is really something else, strange winter it is right?
yeah also not a big cold fan here, but this snow jsut really makes me sooooo happy!
This night it should snow again, but not sure if it will stay as it is raining really bad today and it is washing the snow away

Wow! So much snow! The forest is blanketed in white. I love the view. We don't have a winter season in my country. Beautiful photos.
Cheers!
The forest was so cool and truly something else. Where are you located? I guess in a warm area :D
Christ! Coldddd
Not even that cold just tonsssss of snow!
I am as well! I really LOVE a white country!
This has been a very long time ago in the western parts of our country to get such amounts of snow.
I am fortunate I can work from home and have all the shops I need (food, drinks and whatnot) around the corner, between 50 and 500 meters away. Unfortunately, I didn't make it into nature. Perhaps this weekend. Lets see.
NJOY the SNOW 🎶
I also went for day working from home wednesday when it was Dday, but apart from that it was slowly slowly outside to get there. But damn what a blast! And indeed, I wasn't so good in preparation to skip the supermarkets so on that behalf city life by you is just really convenient.
Glad you are enjoying it all as well!
