Today we will look at the northern Pilsen region under the dam of the Hracholusky reservoir, we will touch the mighty Žižka oak and we will look all the way to the shaft overflow of the dam.
We will start our short trip under the village of Újezd nad Mží in a cottage area. A steep forest road leads here, difficult to reach by ordinary car.
This huge tree has been standing near this cottage area for half a millennium.
Oak, a long-lived tree. It has very strong wood suitable for water structures.
This giant is a state-protected memorial tree.
Žižka's oak. Legends about Žižka, the famous Hussite warlord who spent the night under them, were often associated with similar trees.
Yes, these trees, with their power, resilience and strength, directly encouraged the creation of such legends.
However, our oak does not remember the warlord. He's a little younger. 550 years. That's age. Trunk circumference seven and a half meters.
Its wood is already rotten in places, but the tree is still alive.
People reinforced it with stone masonry so that it would not fall.
A young spruce even grows in its cavity ...
Let's touch the bark of this giant together and draw his life force and wisdom.
He wishes him many more years to reign in the surrounding forest ...
The river Mže flows under the oak. Its waters flow slowly here, calmed by a dam reservoir not far downstream.
We will go together to the foot of her dam.
We will go together upstream to the tourist footbridge about 0.5 km.

The dam is sprinkled, 27 meters high and inside it is hidden a hydroelectric power plant with a chaplain turbine with an output of 2.9 MW.
When we look from the footbridge downstream, a view opens up to the valley of the river with unspoiled nature.

We can cross the footbridge and see the dam closer, for example from the viewpoint on the rock. The photo is from the winter season. We see an interesting shaft overflow and the power plant building on it.
The Hracholusky Dam, about 22 km long, reaches as far as the town of Stříbro.
At present, its recreational use predominates.
For example, we can take a regular shipping line, a steamer in Prague ...
Or just swim and sunbathe on the local beaches ...
Our trip ends. We will definitely return to the dam together someday;)
Dnes se podíváme na severní Plzeňsko pod hráz vodní nádrže Hracholusky, dotkneme se mohutného Žižkova dubu a podíváme se až k šachtovému přelivu přehrady.
Náš krátký výlet začneme pod obcí Újezd nade Mží v chatové oblasti. Vede sem strmá lesní cesta, obtížně sjízdná běžným osobním autem.
Nedaleko této chatové oblasti již půl tisíciletí stojí tento mohutný strom.
Dub, dlouhověký strom. Má velice pevné dřevo vhodné pro vodní stavby.
Tento velikán je státem chráněný památný strom.
Žižkův dub. K podobným stromům se často vázaly pověsti o Žižkovi, slavném husitském vojevůdci, který pod nimi nocoval.
Ano, tyhle stromy svojí mohutností, odolností a silou přímo k tvorbě takových pověstí vybízely.
Náš dub však vojevůdce nepamatuje. Je trochu mladší. 550 let. To je věk. Obvod kmene sedm a půl metru.
Jeho dřevo už je místy prohnilé, ale strom je stále živý.
Lidé ho ještě zpevnili kamenným zdivem, aby se nezřítil.
V jeho dutině dokonce roste mladý smrček...
Dotkněme se společně kůry tohoto velikána a načerpejme jeho životní sílu a moudrost.
Přejme mu ještě dlouhá léta v kralování okolnímu lesu...
Pod dubem teče řeka Mže. Její vody zde pomalu plynou, zklidněné přehradní nádrží nedaleko po proudu.
Vydáme se společně až k patě její hráze.
Půjdeme společně proti proudu řeky až k turistické lávce cca 0,5 km.

Hráz je sypaná, vysoká 27 metrů a v jejím nitru je ukrytá vodní elektrárna s kaplanovou turbínou o výkonu 2,9 MW.
Když se podíváme z lávky po proudu řeky, otevře se nám pohled do údolí řeky s panenskou přírodou.

Lávku můžeme přejít a prohlédnout si hráz blíže, třeba z vyhlídky na skále. Foto je ze zimního období. Vidíme na něm zajímavý šachtový přeliv a objekt elektrárny.
Přehrada Hracholusky dlouhá cca 22 km sahá až k městu Stříbru.
V současnosti převažuje její rekreační využití.
Můžeme se například svézt pravidelnou linkou lodní dopravy, parníkem Praha...
A nebo se prostě jen koupat a opalovat se na místních plážích...
Náš výlet končí. K přehradě se určitě společně ještě někdy vrátíme ;)
