Deadlines and fires

Deadlines and fires are common. Always somewhere, someone does not have time. But if they are systematic, and you catch yourself thinking that you are riding an eternally burning bike, this is not good. Working under time pressure undermines the team spirit and affects the quality of work.

What to do.
Plan the time of tasks correctly. The first principle is that if your work depends on contractors, always give the client a lead time several days longer than you plan. It is guaranteed that someone will be late, and then you will have to explain the delay. The second principle - always tell the contractor the deadline is much less than the client sets for the work.
You will get a double buffer: the client was told more, and the counterparty was told less. Then there is a chance that the job will be done on time. The same goes for working with suppliers and partners.

Irreplaceable employees

It's great when you have celebrity workers to tackle the most critical tasks. It is terrible if, apart from them, no one understands what is going on in the projects, who is the client there, what the customer wants, and how it all works in general.

Firstly, having got used to it, such a super-employee can take these clients and work with them directly for more money. Secondly, if such an employee is lured away by clients or he just leaves, you will stop working on essential projects. At the same time, there will be no one to teach new ones.

What to do.
Constantly look for new staff and cool performers. Even if you have a full complement of good workers, look for new replacements where processes are critical. Try to ensure that the person in charge has an assistant or deputy who, in case of anything, can replace the subordinate who left at least for a while.

You are mired in RAM

Running a business is essential, but it doesn't make sense if you do everything yourself and spend 20 hours a day at work. This may be commendable in your eyes - what a workaholic I am, but common sense says the opposite: an entrepreneur should manage, and business should give freedom and buzz, and not be like galleys.

If you cannot go on vacation, you cannot leave the business for a week so that it does not fall apart; then, you do not yet have a business - or rather, it is in its infancy, and you cannot leave everything as it is.

What to do.
Delegate more tasks, find more experienced, independent, and expensive employees who know the business better than you. If it seems that there are none, you are wrong. You just need to overcome your perfectionism and accept that some tasks will be done a little worse and longer than usual. But only at the beginning. A month or two of monitoring and everything will be ok. Especially if you write down detailed instructions for work and fix functional responsibilities.

Hi @benie111
Friend, many times success always depends on a good planning of what we want to achieve in all areas of our lives and we must always include the possible unforeseen events, which always tend to happen and you can look for the statistics of other similar businesses to know where we can fail .

Exactly. You are very on point. Thanks for your contribution
