Online tuition for professors and students

in Project HOPE3 years ago

It's been more than a year with COVID-19 already and between the many things that changed in our life one of the most crucial things is the studying system, and actually, it isn't really going well so far almost everywhere in the world, and here I want to ask few things about how professors and students dealt with such circumstances.

The studying system

Almost all university studies are now based on online meetings between the professor and students, and from the first look, it might seem like the best alternative for the traditional studying ways in university.

Looking at few studies yesterday, it showed that the students barely showed any development in their specialty and some didn't show any development at all.

Studying is based on memorizing because of the struggle to provide the proper studying materials to help students understand everything they pass on instead of just memorize it until the exam time only, but I'm confused about Who to blame in this situation, what do you think?

Some professors perspective

The professors dealt with the situation I mentioned above in 2 ways so I decided to make them 2 types of professors:

  1. Professors who understood and trying to help students as much as possible.
  2. Other professors started looking at the students as they are enemies.

In my opinion neither the first nor the second are dealing with the situation very well, as for the first type of professors, they are usually spoiling the students too much until the student decide not to study and just rely on cheating, and for any students, if you have to cheat in order to get a very high mark they won't miss the chance but some of them dealt with the situation a little better by making it fair by understanding the different circumstances of students but not spoiling them too much.

About the 2nd type that I made this whole post because of them, the ones that expect the students to have superpowers because they just can't see the students having the exam afront of them or bringing very high-level exams that have never reached this level in the past years and making exams time so short so they won't allow the students to cheat but is this the solution though?

At this level if you work hard or if you are lucky enough by finding someone that is very good at that current subject and take the exam instead of you will be the same, students won't be rewarded for their hard work it might be only a minor difference between students and that's also not fair, and here I have another question, how can we see the differences between the students without giving them a chance to cheat?

Types of students

Now since I have talked about how professors dealt with the current circumstances I want to talk about how students dealt with it:

  1. The hard-working student
  2. The one looking for marks only

Well, here I can say I appreciate the hard work of many students who spend their time looking for information and putting their back into it, despite the low studying materials that are available for them, but some students really don't have enough money to prepare the best internet that the professors suppose everyone has, so what shall they do for equality?

I don't know what to say about those who cheat, but when the current circumstances are done and life back to normal -hopefully soon- they won't be able to compete with other students and will struggle with each new semester they are going to have.

At last, I want to add one more question to our post here, What's the best way to deal with online tuition?

Until next time, peace.

Sort:

Different types of students as well as different type of lecturers. While some are only bothered about dishing information, others are bothered about that information sinking. Either way students also have their own issues

Exactly. Thanks for reaading and commenting!

Certainly there are students who care about gaining knowledge but there are others who cheat and what they are interested in is getting a grade at any cost.

Exactly and the consequences will be in the future. Thank you for reading.
