Black ice is terrible. I've experienced it a couple of times too, so I know that feeling when you notice your riding on black ice.
The best tip is don't use your brakes and don't steer! Which is difficult because that is probably the first reaction everyone has.

If you want a low maintenance bicycle you might look into a belt bicycle. Because they have a carbon chain you don't need any lubrication. This is also useful when you need to store your bicycle indoors like you do.
