Description from Strava:
I had not run since before Christmas as we were travelling, but I did a lot of walking. It was nice to get back to parkrun, but it was a bit cold. It was looking like -2C, but Strava reckons it would feel like -10C! I was still in shorts, but I had my gloves and hat on. The Henlow lakes at the site were frozen over, so there would not be many anglers.
There were a lot of runners there, but then the Stevenage parkrun was called off due to icy conditions. Their course is mostly on paths that could be slippery, but this own is on grass/mud that would all be frozen today.
I was not really worrying about my time as I knew it would not be anything special. I just tried to keep up with some people. The low sun made it hard to see any trip hazards, but I survived unscathed.
On the last lap my friend Jeff came past and I was not going to catch him. I was happy enough to be under 28 minutes given the conditions and my current state. I have still been coughing a bit lately.
One of the regulars was marking 200 events, so there was cake. I had a coffee whilst helping to sort the finish tokens. Then I needed to get home as I was getting cold. I jogged most of the way back to warm up, but still needed a few minutes once I got back before I felt ready to get in the shower.
The sun has been shining all day, but it may not warm up much more. At least our solar panels are working well. I hear from friends up north that they have a fair bit of snow, but there is no sign of any here for now.
My offer to create Hive accounts for fellow runners is still open. You can log runs on Strava to create a post there and earn from it.
Happy new year and run free!

I love the colours and reflection in the lake. It was sub-zero yesterday, over here at least, must be quite difficult to get out to run. I guess once you're running you're warm.
I soon warm up when I am running. I see other runners in hats, leggings and jackets, but I would be too warm like that if it's anything above freezing.
Well done on the Parkrun and dealing with the cold conditions.
Cheers. parkrunners are a hardy bunch.
Yay 🙌 you, for ParkRun #155 @steevc!!
Maybe I or @bitteriron & I will be in the UK 🇬🇧 when it comes time for your ParkRun #200.
We’ll come cheer you on then eat your cake!!🎂
For now, we’re walking. Its cold than Ledds!
It's going to be some time next year before I hit that milestone. Actually you only qualify for a special shirt at 250. There will be weeks I miss or volunteer anyway.
It was cold enough here today.

BEER.Brrrrr! Permafrost indeed. Glad you had a safe run.
There are folks in London running on the road to avoid the ice - that has to be madness and crikey the car fumes? Doesn't bear thinking about.
Stay healthy and well Steve.
I avoid running on roads when I can and the air ought to be better here than in London. Stay well and don't slip!
